Special K's FEARLESS TOP 10 PREDICTIONS--SONOMA

Tags: RACING NFL NCAA NEWS FEATURED

Welcome to this weeks edition of Special K's FEARLESS TOP 10 PREDICTIONS. This week the Sprint Cup series is the Napa Valley, California on the Road Course at Sonoma. It is the 16th race of the season and we are heading into the final 10 races before the chase for the championship. The Nationwide series was in Elk Heart, Wisconsin on the Road America course and Reed Sorenson picked up his first win the series since 2007. I personally do not like the road course races and wish NASCAR would take them off the schedule. Passing will be difficult as usual, pit strategy will be used as the race is ran backwards becuase fuel milage always plays a huge factor in the outcome. Track position is more important here than almost everywhere else because you can't pass very easily. The only exciting thing about the road course racing is the double-file restarts. With very few cautions drivers in the back will need a different pit strategy than the leaders to get up front. As ususal there were several one-lap-wonders in qualifing and some of those include Jamie McMurray outside pole, Paul Menard 3rd, Kasey Kahne 6th, AJ Allmendinger 7th, Brad KeseClownski 15th and Dale Jr 18th. Other drivers in the middle-to-back where they usually are include Regan Smith 24th, Jeff Burton 25th, Klassles Harvick 26th, Robby Gordon 28th, Boris Said 30th and David Ragan 34th. Last week yours truly had 6 drivers finish in the Top 10 and 2 others in the Top 20. I'm really going out on a limb with my picks this week because of track position and some drivers are good road course racers. Here are this weeks picks.

1.---Marcos Ambrose qualified up front and was fast in practice. He choked last year when lading the race and lost on the final laps. He should get his 1st win of his career this week.

2.---Denny Hamlin is coming off a big win last week and is really good on the road courses as long as he can stay on the track. Look for a solid run for my favorite driver who is starting 4th.

3.---Klassless Harvick will knock everybody out of his way to the front this week and drive like a total idiot. Of course that is nothing new.

4.---Kyle Busch is a former winner here and should be up front at the end.

5.---Jimmie Johnson has ben slow in practice but he should be in the front by the end of the race. And NASCAR will proably ensure that he is if they can possibly do so.

6.---Juan Problem Montoya got the only win of his career and you can see Klassless Harvick above.

7.---Jamie McMurray is up front and is usualy pretty good on the road courses.

8.---Jeff Gordon dominated the road courses in the old cars. He should be up front by the end of the race. He too will do a Harvick/Montoya if needed. Just ask Martin Truex Jr about last year.

9.---Joey Lagano is on nthe pole and should hang around the front if he can stay on the course.

10.--Martin Truex Jr is good on the road courses and was heading for a Top 3 finish last year until Jeff Gordon came up behind him. Look for a solid finish.

The only driver to DNQ this week was Tony Ave. There are several road course ringers in the race and unfortunetly Boris Said is among them. He will also do a Klassless Harvick and knock drivers out of the way to the front. Other drivers to watch include Mark Martin, Tony Stewart if he can overcome Darrian Grubb and the big dark Horse this week is Robby Gordon. He has won here and could be factor if they use the proper pit stratgey. So far the TNT coverage has been aewsome and makes us all wonder why NASCAR continues to have the FOX/HMS Network.

Have as great day everybody.

Special K's FEARLESS TOP 10 PREDICTIONS--MICHIGAN

Welcome to this weeks edition of Special K's FEARLESS TOP 10 PREDICTIONS. This week both the Sprint Cup and Nationwide series are at the Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan. It is the 15th race of the season for the Sprint Cup series. Carl Edwards won the Nationwide race yesterday holding off teammate Ricky "DNF" Stenhouse Jr. This typically is a very boring race. Passing is difficult, there are very few cautions and usually the race comes down to fuel milage. Drivers in the back will need pit strategy to get to the front and if there is a late race caution some drivers will use pit strategy as well. Which means the line-up gets jumbled and you will have drivers at the front of the field who normally run in the back, i.e Regan Smith, AJ Allmendinger, David Crash Reutimann, Landon Cassill, Juan Problem Montoya, Paul Menard, David Ragan and Brad KeseClownski just to name a few. As usual there were several one-lap-wonders again in qualifing this week. Some of those include David Crash Reutimann 2nd, Regan Smith 5th, Kasey Kahne 8th, Paul Menard 9th, Landon Cassill 12th, Jamie McMurray 13th and Dale Jr 15th. Last week due pit strategy and fule milage and a late causion yours truly only had 3 drivers finish in the Top 10 and 4 more in the Top 20. Here are this weeks picks.

1.---Kurt Busch won his 3rd straight pole and will try to become the 1st winner this season from the pole. The team has scored the most points of anybody the last 4 races. Look for a solid finish.

2.---Denny Hamlin had the best car last week and was taken ou on pit road and finished 19th after dominating the race. He is the defending race winner and should have a solid finish this week.

3.---Matt Kenseth is a 2-time winner here and is starting up front which doesn't bode well for the competition.

4.---Jimmie Johnson runs well here but seems to run out of gas toward the end. He is still looking for his 1st win at MIS.

5.---Tony Stewart finished 5th and 6th in the two races lasy year. He is starting to voercome some of the horrible calls by Darrian Grubb.

6.---Carl Edwards is also a former winner here and trys for the weekend sweep today.

7.---Kyle Busch is starting in the middle of the pack and usually runs well here.

8.---Brain Vickers usually runs well here and actually would have won the race here the year Dale Jr won his last race on Fuel milage. NASCAR admitted a scoring mistake on a late race caution and it cost Vickers a win.

9---Jeff Gordon is starting in the back but should be in the front by days end.

10.--Dale Earnhardt Jr was given his last win here by NASCAR. He usually runs well here and should have a solid finish.

The drivers who DNQ were Tony Raines, Brian KeseClownski and Mike Skinner. Other drivers to watch include Martin Truex Jr, Mark Martin, Greg Biffle, Klassless Harvick nad David Crash Reutimann if they can stay out of trouble. With the drivers being able to run 4 or 5 different grooves it should be a exciting race, but it typcially isn't. The winner of the race usually comes from the drivers starting in the Top 10.

Have a HAPPY FATHER's DAY everybody.

Special K's FEARLESS TOP 10 PREDICTIONS--POCONO

Welcome to this weeks edition of Special K's FEARLESS TOP 10 PREDICTIONS. This week the Sprint Cup series is in Pocono, Pennsylvania. It is the 14th race of the 2011 season. The Nationwide series is off this week, while the Camping World Truck series was at the Texas Motor Speedway on Friday evening. Ron "I'll take you out on the restart" Hornaday won his 1st race of the season for Klasses Harvick Inc. This weeks race will also be a test session for the Brickyard 400 in August. The 2 mile track has similar charateristics and the drivers who run well here usually also run well at Indy. Passin will be difficult unless your car is handling. There will probably be very few cautions and if you are starting in the rear you could find yourself down a lap very early in the race. Fuel milage always seems to come into play the last 50 laps and track position as always regins supreme. Last week Brad Keseclownski picked up another lucky win in the Miller Lite Dodge. The big news this week was the altercation between Richard "No Class" Childress and Kyle Busch. Chioldress physically assulted Busch after the race. He is and always has been a hothead just like Klassless Harvick. I guess that's why they have a good relationship. They both have no class on or off the track. Last week yours truly had 6 drivers finish in the Top 10 and 3 others finish 11th, 12th and 20th. The fuel milage cost me having at least 2 more in the Top 10. Here are this weeks picks.

1.---Denny Hamlin is rolling and is 11th in the points just one behind Cryin Ryan Newman who he will pass this week. My favorite driver has 4 wins and 7 Top 10's in just 7 starts here including the sweep in 2006 his rookie season. He has two races he should have won as well. Look for a solid run.

2.---Jeff Gordon also has 4 wins here the last won coming in a rain shortened event while being low on fuel. He is starting up front and should get a solid finish.

3.---Kurt Busch is on the pole and should have a strong finish.

4.---Tony Stewart is starting to roll with the tracks being hot and slick. This is his time of the year and he should be able to overcome crew chief Darrian Grubb.

5.---Carl Edwards has been fast all season and is fast again this week.

6.---Jimmie Johnson has 2 wins here and Chad Knaus will get him up front. They start 14th.

7.---Mark Martin has 6-2nd place finishes here and 33 Top 10's in 48 starts. He is starting 10th.

8.---Crybaby Bowyer is starting 12th and that should help him keep good track position.

9.---Joey Lagano was having a solid run last year in the fall race and Klassless Harvick took him because he didn't have the car good enough to pass him. He is my first surprise pick of the week.

10.--Marcos Ambrose had a Top 5 in his first start. He is my 2nd surpsrise pick of the week. Pocono drives like a road course and he should be able to keep track position by starting up front.

Other drivers to watch could include Dale Jr, (21st) Klassless Harvick and Kyle Busch who both start 30th or worse. They will need a early caution and pit strategy to get to the front. This could finally be the week Klassless Harvick gets caught in the back. Lets hope so. The TV coverage moves to TNT this week mfor 6 races. The coverage is awesome and is 2nd only to ESPN. The only drawback is having to listen to Wally Dullenbach who just like DW has no clue about racing these cars. It is one of my favorite races and should be exciting as usual.

Have a great day everybody.

Special K's FEARLESS TOP 10 PREDICTIONS--KANSAS
Category: Racing

Welcome to this weeks edition of Special K's FEARLESS TOP 10 PREDICTIONS. This week the Camping World Truck series and the Sprint Cup series are at the Kansas Motor Speedway. Which also reminds of the famous quote "Toto, I don't think we are in Kansas anymore." Justin Allgeier won the Nationwide race at Chicagoland Speedway last night. This race on the 1.5 mile track has gotten better over the years. Passing is still difficult and as always track position is important. Pit stops will be the key and 4 tires will be important. Fuel milage could also be a huge factor at the end of the race. Last week yours turly only had 2 drivers in the Top 10 and 4 others in the Top 20. Here are this weeks picks.

1.---Kyle Busch is still the hottest driver in NASCAR and is starting up front. Without a major problem he should have another solid finish.

2.---Kurt Busch has his junk Penske Dodge on the pole after spinning out in practice. After a hot start to the season, they have had problems the last 8 races. Look for a solid finsh.

3.---Carl Edwards is just rolling along. The points leaders is fast and up front again this week.

4.---Denny Hamlin is starting to hit his stride the past few weeks. My favortie driver is now only 14 points out of 10th with Pocono coming up next.

5.---Tony Stewart is starting 13th and hopefully can overcome Darrian Grubbs horrible calls and get a solid finish.

6.---Joey Lagano was the fastest in final practice and starts up front. It should be a great day for JGR.

7.---Greg Biffle is inconsistant as usual but has managed to stay in the Top 10 in points.

8.---Martin Tuex Jr had 2 straight Top 10's heading into last week's race and had problems. He is fast again this week and is my surprise pick once again.

9.---Klassless Harvick is starting up front which is very rare for he and his team. Hopefully the trend reverses this week and he finishes in the back.

10.--Jeff Gordon is a former winner here and will probably need pit strategy to get up front.

Other drivers to possibly watch this week include Jimmie Johnson starting 31st, Dale Jr, Jeff Burton and possibly Cryin Ryan Newman. Thank GOD this is the final race of the season for the horrible TV coverage from the FOX/HMS Network. TNT picks up the next 6 races starting next week and then the final 17 races will be on the best network coverage on ESPN.

Have a great day everybody...
