Hello Gabbers Happy Thursday.
On vacation this week my sons little league season ended Monday Night as they lost the elimination game against those pesky Athletics. A win on Monday would have gave them one more game to get to the town series against the Cardinals. It didnít happen since Iím on vacation this week we headed to the rocky coast right after the game.
I hope all had a fantastic Fathers day last Sunday. I umpired some AAU baseball pretty good game. Than I watched my sons Blue Jays beat the Angels. Whatís better than a fathers day filled with baseball. It was a great day.
As the Red Sox played the Cubs over the weekend the Boston Radio stations had Theo Epstein and he bashed the ownership a bit of the Red Sox. He said it became more of a brand than what was in the best interest in the team. Signing some Free agents that were the biggest name not the best fit for the team. Epstein did take some of blame . Which honestly how can you ask a guy to be anymore honest.
As a lifelong Red Sox fan there is just too much in your face. I kind of like the teams when they donít have all these big names. I like Pedroia who just plays hard. I guess I can compare Youklis to maybe a Paul OíNeil type who plays †hard but gets emotional when he doesnít do well or the attitude of his teammates is that of they donít care. Iíll take a guy like that anytime. He is on the trading block but give me a bunch of guys that run through wells like Youklis. He is probably short lived to be on the Red Soz but† he well be missed.
Why, did the Red Sox play the Cubs anyway. I donít mind Inter-League play but make it like the NFL play all the teams in a division alternate every three years. The Red Sox played the Phillies, Marlins Home and away, The Nationals, an d the Braves. The switched the Mets for the Cubs maybe because they are both four letter words. Iím just not sure why.
Hey, it looks like Lebron has stepped up and will get his Championship. Honestly, Iím not a big fan but the guy has stepped it up in these playoffs . Hed is what Lebron is supposed to day in the playoffs. He has taken charge and he obviously is driven to put a Championship behind him. Of course that ends all the speculation of he canít win a championship or canít close it out with the big one.
Of course I think this is a more recent phenomena the emphasis on great players winning a Championship. The Best case was Dan Marino and until the Colts won their Superbowl would you have said Peyton Manning sucked. Iíll take Peyton or Marino with or without a championship. Did Carl Yastrzemski ever win a championship people didnít say he sucked? Ted Williams is another guy that never won a championship. By todayís standards these guys would have been for ever remembered for not winning a Championship. The fact is all the cards have to fall in place for a Championship it didnít happen for them but it doesnít take away for their accomplishments. I like to focus on what a play did not what his team didnít do. Sure he made a difference but how good or how bad would those teams be without any of these guys.
Thatís all I have
