This Week in the NFL and Other Stuff
Category: NFL

I have many thoughts on this week in the NFL,

The Chiefs and the Raiders have won their Superbowls both teams earned big victories of the Steelers and the Bengals respectively.added to the AFC North going O for the week. Any nice wins for two embattled franchises.

The Patriots and the Jets was one of the hardest hitting football gaes I have ever been to. I sit close enough to hear it. It was just fun to see. I’m not sure Sexy Rexy Ryan’s game plan worked all that well. Revis did a fantastic job taking away the deep threat of Randy Moss but left Brady’s other  favorite target Wes Welker who made a lot of catches for 192 yards. I also think the Jets are a very good team. Mark Sanchez is going through some rookie growing pains and I hope Rex sticks with him for the long haul.

The Colts ok we have heard that the Colts weak spot is their defense . Maybe they aren’t pretty and maybe we make a little too much of Bob Sanders  not being in the lineup. They seem to do enough every week to compliment Peyton Manning and the offense. The Colts right now are doing what it takes to win. They have the right amount of talent , bounces, and luck to keep rolling . As a Patriot fan I hope they don’t beat the Patriots regular season winning mark of 21 straight.

However, as a football fan I’m enjoying each week watching them win. For example the 4th and 2 play(damn Itold myself I wouldn’t mention this) against the Patriots. The defense made a great play regardless if the spot was right , wrong or in different. They also just stifled the Ravens in the red zone. Whether , you like the Colts or Peyton Manning or not they are on a fun run. They have won their last 3 games by a total of 6 points.

Who would have thought the Browns and the Lions would be the best game of the week. But it was an offensive showdown. Good for the lions. As long as mangini is the head guy at the Browns I won’t comment.

Whas the Cowboys and Redskins game just overshadowed usually one of the best rivalry games in the league it was almost silent unless you were in Dallas or Washington.

Other Stuff

This one had to do with College Football. I’m pissed off at my illustrious University for canning the Football Program after 74 years. There will be no more Northeastern Huskie Football of course there won’t be any more alumni contributions from Lanz either. They almost canned  ita couple years ago it was saved by the AD and some former players and alumnis. This time I don’t know of the school put pressure on the AD to can the program . I don’t know if the program just wasn’t making money which I’m guessing is the case. OF course the University never gave the program a chance to succeed. When you have to commute to the football stadium instead of walking a few blocks that kind of puts a damper on the program.

They were supposed to by land near the school which is in Boston proper to put a new stadium of course this is Boston and the pols probably had there hands out making it unattractive. However, they did sink 25 Million dollars into remodeling Mathews Arena where they play Hockey and Basketball. Mathews Arena is an old building the Bruins played there before the Garden and the WHA’s Boston, New England, Hartford Carolina, Whalers, Hurricanes played there in their first year of existence. So I hated when arch rival BU canned therr Football Program in 1997. I hate it that Norheastern has as well.

Sorry for the rant but it was bugging me since I got the email. The one thing the University did was allow any football players on scholarship to keep it and they also providing help so that football players can transfer and hook on with another school.

Malden Golden Tornadoes

Finally Thanksgiving is High School Football Rivalry Day.

I will be at the Malden Golden Tornadoe-Medford Mustang Game the 3rd oldest continuous High School Football Rivalry in the country. 121 games  Malden Leads the series 57-54-10. The thing that makes this game  special  besides being a very hot rivalry both programs have reinvented themselves. Malden lost the league titled to Everett in overtime last week. Nedford after a few bad years has bounced back this season and are a young team. This should be a good one.
