Who is David Robertson??
Category: MLB

We all know Jeter, Rivera, A-Rod and Teixeira. But, who is David Roberston?

Let's find out.

David was born in Birmingham, Al. He played for the University of Alabama from 2005-2006. His freshmen season Robertson had 8 saves and was 7-5 with a 2.92 era. David led the SEC in saves during his sophomore season while posting a 4-4 with a 3.02 era. Robertson was eligible for the draft after his sophomore season due to being 21 years of age. The New York Yankees selected him in the 17th round of the 2006 amateur draft.

In 2007, David pitched for the Yankees Tampa, Trenton and Charleston minor league teams posting a 8-3 record, with 4 saves and a remarkable 0.96 era. Robertson followed the 2007 season with an impressive 2008 going 4-0 with 3 saves and another great era of 1.68 while pitching for Trenton and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Now you can see why the Yankees where impressed with him. He played 25 games for the Yankees in 2008 going 4-0 with a 5.34 era in middle relief. In 2009 Robertson pitched in 8 games for the Yankees Scranton/Wilkes-Barre minor league team, going 0-3 with a 1.84 era and 2 saves before being called to the Yankees. He pitched in 45 games this year with an era of 3.30 and a record of 2-1 with 1 save.

But it was last night that Roberston made a name for himself in Yankee history. Replacing Marte, he gave up a single to Michael Cuddyer to load the bases. With the infield pulled in, Delmon Young lined out to Teixeira and Carlos Gomez followed with a grounder that Teixeira threw home for a forceout. Robertson escaped the inning by inducing a flyout to center by Brendan Harris. Not bad. Stuff that legends are made of?
