Tool of the Week - A Split Decision
Category: Daily Blog 2.0
Tags: Pittsburgh Penguins Sidney Crsoby James Harrison Pittsburgh Steelers

Last week I passed off the TOTW duties to Beeze being he’s more qualified to speak on college football than I am, I live in SEC country and couldn’t give two shits about it and from the reaction he got over his post it appears all of you feel the same way I do about the BCS and their decisions. At any rate it’s a new week and that means a new Tool or in this case two Tools.  B.O.B. tossed out what I’d been thinking were good candidates in James Harrison and Sidney Crosby, it’s only by coincidence that both of these Tools are on Pittsburgh teams, two teams which are near the top of my most hated list. Let’s start with Harrison…

Everyone knows by now about Harrison cleaning Colt McCoy’s clock last Thursday, this, just another hit in a long line of head shots Harrison has delivered over the last couple of seasons. To date Harrison has accumulated over $100k in fines from the league’s front office but this time he earned himself a suspension. I honestly thought he’d lose the rest of the season and some cash, not just one game, and here’s why: Harrison had more than enough time to go for a body shot and McCoy was clearly in the process of throwing the ball when he was moving out of the pocket, but instead of just grabbing him around the waste for the takedown Harrison put his head down and delivered a blow to McCoy’s chin sending the Brown’s QB to La La Land.

There’s been chatter by some that players need to be taught again how to deliver tackles to fall into line with the new rules implemented by the NFL, I have a hard time with that. Grown men playing a game and being handed amended rules shouldn’t need schooling in the delivery of a tackle, that just sounds ridiculous. You can’t tell me Harrison doesn’t know what he’s doing, in the last two seasons he’s had the chance to clean up what he does but he hasn’t’ demonstrated to the league that’s the case. What’s the next line of punishment for Harrison, 3 games, or 5, maybe 10? The league probably never thought it would end up having to dole out this many fines to one man but now that they’re in that position where do they go from here? Hitting this tool in the wallet hasn’t worked, maybe losing a whole season is what the doctor ordered, it’ll give him the time needed to rethink how he’ll go about stopping the opposition in the future, but in the meantime he gets to split the Golden Plunger with another Tool from Pittsburgh.

Now onto Crosby…this is the guy I hate the most in hockey, Malkin and the Pens as a whole are a close second. I guess what really burned my ass was last season when Crosby got his concussion and Mario Lemieux came out crying about how his little darling was targeted, I had to laugh as Lemieux went on and on about cheap shot artists when at the time he had the biggest villain in Matt Cooke. You see, they talk a good game in Pittsburgh but they sure can’t take what they dish out. Crosby has more than on one occasion earned the hits he has received, same with Cooke who has gone after plenty of guys and  possibly has ended the career of Marc Savard who has only played about 35 games in the last two seasons, he’s currently out for season. I’ll give you a few examples on how Crosby and the rest of his mates play the game; you tell me if Lemieux has any argument.

This was just 3 weeks ago, Crosby elbowing Nick Foligno.

                                                                                              Crosby slewfooting Ryan Callahan.

Don Cherry showing numerous cheap shots by Matt Cooke. It’s funny that we never heard Mario complaining publicly about his own guys hurting other players.

Have no sympathy for Sidney Crosby, what he is starting to get is a taste of his own medicine, same as Cooke. If you remember Hotch’s post a few weeks back where he highlighted Evander Kane then of the Atlanta Thrasher’s knocking Cooke out following a previous game where Cooke threw a cheap shot on Kane, that my friend was a thing of beauty! In situations like that you don’t forget who it was, you just wait for your opportunity to dish out the deserved retaliation. For guys like Crosby, the prima donna superstars and there really is only a select few, they expect teammates to come to their rescue regardless if they instigate the trouble or not. Most times an opponent will take all comer’s but in Crosby’s case he’s finally reaping what he’s sewn and that’s a reputation for throwing elbows, diving to get calls, slewfooting and whatever else he can do when he thinks a referee isn’t looking. There are a lot of players that seem to have had enough of the shit coming out of Pittsburgh, I know the Bruins are tired of their act and they’ve demonstrated in the last 4 or 5 meetings they won’t take any shit from Crosby, Cooke or Malkin any longer, and if they choose to go after a goalie or cheap shot a guy from behind you can expect a special delivery from Shawn Thornton or Adam McQuaid!.

Until that time comes the best I’ve got to give Ms. Sindy, Cooke and Malkin is a share of the Golden Plunger right in the chicklets!

Is David Stern sly?? Albert an Angel?? A fight at a college basketball game?? Braun doing drugs?? Syracuse!!!! All this, Coaches dropping, and more, in one of the biggest ScottJax bogs ever, in this weeks edition of

ScottJax has been released, by his surgeon, to go back to work. I started work, this past Tuesday, boo-hoo, and already can’t wait until I go on vacation in March. It felt good relaxing, and spending time with my family during the day and evening. I work at night, so it was really different being up all day.

When are attendance figures, at least in the NFL, correct? I go to Jacksonville Jaguar games, and for the last 3 games, the attendance was reported at over 62,000. While that figure would be accurate for the Jaguar game on Monday Night Football two weeks ago, it was not correct for yesterday‘s game. The two bridges leading to Everbank Field, were empty a half hour before game time. The weather was miserable, it was windy and cold. Their weren’t a lot of fans in the stands, maybe 40,000 if that. When you have been a season ticket holder for a long time, who can get an idea of what the attendance is.

How sly is David Stern?? First his cronies who are running the New Orleans Hornets trade Chris Paul to the Lakers in a three-team trade. Then, because some NBA owners cried foul, he canceled the trade.

Now its okay for a team to trade any of its players, as long as they don’t have a no-trade clause, but, it isn’t alright for a team run by the NBA to trade its star player, especially to a team who already has a mega-star on it.

You are going to tell me the Hornets get Lamar Odom, from the Lakers, and from Houston they would get a 2012 first round pick from Houston that they got from the Knicks, Luis Scola, Kevin Martin and Goran Dragic. Do any of these players strike fear in your heart? Nah, not a chance. In the meantime, Houston gets Pau Gasol.

So the Lakers give up an injury prone Lamar Odom and a player who will never be a mega-star in Gasol. No wonder the Lakers wanted to make the trade.

Then the Hornets turned down a trade that would have sent Chris Paul to the Clippers, because Los Angles Clippers weren’t giving the Hornets enough in return. Originally, the Clippers were to send center Chris Kaman and prospects Al-Farouq Aminu and Eric Bledsoe, but New Orleans wanted Los Angeles to add Eric Gordon and Minnesota’s unprotected 2012 first-round draft pick, which the Clippers thought was too much to give, even for the chance to get Paul. Another move by the NBA to keep Paul in New Orleans.

But the essences of the owners lock-out had been to stop big-market teams from leveraging small-market teams for star players pending free agency.

The real problem is going to be, DOES ANYONE REALLY KNOW WHAT THE NBA OWNERS GOT FROM THE NEW COLLECTIVE BARGINING AGREEMENT????

Or

WAS THERE SOME BACKROOM DEALS DONE JUST BETWEEN THE OWNERS THAT THE PLAYERS DON’T KNOW ABOUT???

It has now been reported that CP3 will be going to the Clippers

In what was a dominate game by Xavier, turned out to be remembered as a game that was called with 9.4 seconds left when the teams fought on the court. This game was marred with trash talking throughout the game, then words escalated into shoving and then swings were seen in the pile, as coaches pulled their players away.

The cheap shot has to go to Cincinnati’s Yancy Gates as he sucker punched Xavier’s Kenny Frease in the face.

Cincinnati suspended senior Yancy Gates, junior Cheikh Mbodj and freshman Octavius Ellis six games each and freshmen Ge’Lawn Guyn one game.

Xavier suspended freshman Dez Wells and walk-on Landen Amos for four games, junior Mark Lyons for two and senior Tu Holloway for one game.

I feel that Yancy Gates should have been suspended for the season for his actions. He was the player who was throwing multiple punches during the melee.

Cincinnati coach Mick Cronin said the four suspended Bearcats players will still have to earn their way back onto the team, even with their fixed game suspensions handed out by the school and endorsed by the Big East on Sunday afternoon.

Before any of them put a uniform back on they will apologize and that's just the first step before putting the uniform back on," Cronin told ESPN.com Sunday. "Just because the press release says what it says that doesn't mean they're all back. They're going to sit in front of a camera and say how sorry they are and how grateful they are for getting a second chance.

"If I don't believe it then they won't be on the team -- and if they don't demonstrate that they won't ever put on a jersey again -- period," Cronin said. "They're going to sit in front of a camera and say it. I can tell the difference as to how genuine they are. The university issued the suspensions and I supported it. But for me it's different. I have the autonomy to not let anybody back on the team."

Officials and coaches, from both teams, have offered apologies and expressed embarrassment.

On top of the suspensions of Xavier and Cincinnati players, comes word that a southwest Ohio prosecutor will consider criminal charges in the aftermath of the brawl. Hamilton County prosecutor Joe Deters said in a statement Monday that his office will review the fight to determine whether any charges are appropriate.

What’s up with Ryan Braun? Come-on man!!! Just when we thought baseball was getting back to normal, you go and screw things up. Braun found out about the results before he received his MVP award. He is appealing the ruling. Now Ryan’s spokesperson is telling all who will listen, "There are highly unusual circumstances surrounding this case which will support Ryan's complete innocence and demonstrate that there was absolutely no intentional violation of the program. While Ryan has impeccable character and no previous history, unfortunately, because of the process we have to maintain confidentiality and are not able to discuss it any further, but we are confident that he will ultimately be exonerated."

Ryan should have made a statement, on his own, if he had nothing to hide.

Congratulations go out to the Houston Texans who finally have made it to the playoffs. Got give props to T.J. Yates who was throw into the job after quarterbacks Schaub and Leinart went down with injuries. Yates is 2-0 as a started.

St. Louis screwed up!! They have a loyal fan base who fill the stadium and what do they do, they let Albert walk. If he was with Yankees, they would have given him what he wanted. This is like saying todays Cardinals would have let Stan "the Man" Musial walk.

James Harrison has to be one of the dirtiest players in the NFL. Here is the hit on McCoy the other day. Notice how Harrison brings his arms up. He does that on most of his hits. Tell me there’s not something wrong with that.

He has to get an suspension or a heavy fine placed on him.

The NFL gave James a one game suspension. Was that enough??

I know its early in the season, and number one really doesn’t mean as much as it does at the end of the college basketball season, but I have to give props to MY College basketball team Syracuse Orange. With all the adversity with the Bernie Fine incident the team has stood tall. It does help that this is the deepest team that I can remember. Ten players play consistently while the team has had fifteen players play in a game. I can never remember when that many played in a game for Cuse.

Go Orange!!!

What do these three coaches have in common? They are no longer the head football coach of their teams.

Jack was fired two weeks ago, 2 years too late, by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Del Rio was the coach for 9 years, with a record of 68-71. His last three years were suppose to be years Jacksonville was to make it to the playoffs, but just the opposite happened. The team finished 7-9, 8-8 and was 3-8 when fired.

Todd Haley, 19-27, just couldn’t get the chief untracked after quarterback Matt Cassel, and three starting offensive lineman, went down with a season ending injuries. The future looked bright after Kansas City made it to the playoffs with a 10-6 record. I think the Chiefs were looking for a reason to fire Haley.

Tony Sparano, was 11-5 in his first year as the Dolphins head coach, leading people to believe that the future was bright. Ah how records of 79, 7-9 and 4-9, finishing with a 29-32, spoiled it all.

Why a Patriots hottie to start this week? Why not!?! Look at her...And that beast Gronkowski hit that...Oh, and the fact that the Patriots offense is a machine, that I think is on course to take on the Packers machine in the "Super Bowl." Who needs defense when you have a couple of offenses that can make the scoreboard flash "TILT!!!"

Here's another shot of her, all sexed up before Gronk gave her a thrashing!

So a lot happened in the sports world this past week...And the idiotic world of Baseball got things started off Monday when they decided to finally let Ron Santo into the Baseball Hall of Fame, a year after he died...Of course I had plenty to say about THIS...

Then the Los Angeles Angels, who aren't in Los Angeles, gave Albert Pujols (31 supposedly) a ten year 250 million dollar contract...That is an insane amount of money, and an insane amount of years for a guy that has a lot of wear and tear on him already...I think it's stupid, but at least Pujols didn't sign with Miami and their new stupid uniforms...

Then Saturday news broke about NL MVP, RYAN_BRAUN testing positive for steroids...I don't give a shit what he says...Baseball has put itself in a position of, you're guilty until proven innocent...Maybe that's because we have yet to see some one accused of juicing, be found Innocent of it...Fuck him, the fucking cheating cunt that he is!

It's this shit...Stories like these three that push more and more people, including me, away from Baseball...Fuck all of them, they can eat my ass!

But there was good news Saturday night, as I got to TOOT my own horn after Robert Griffin III won the Heisman Trophy...Baylor got their first Heisman winner, and Griffin proved you don't have to be playing for one of the big boys to get some attention...Kid has great skills, and a good head on his shoulders and he deserved it the most...I was glad the invited Montee_Ball from Wisconsin, since his numbers were better then the highly hyped Trent_Richardson...Yeah, if you click the links to those two guys, it goes to their stats...Ball has him beat!

So, the embarrassing Browns were on the NFL Network's Thursday Night game this past week, against former rival, the Pittsburgh Steelers...I say former, because it can't be a rivalry if one team keeps getting their asses whooped each year...This was a boring ass game, but the Browns defense nutted up and kept the team in the game...Just to see Colt McCoy an his merry band of shitty offensive player suck it up some more...Then cheap-shotting, head hunting, James Harrison did this...

I don't care what anyone says, Harrison is a fucking asshole...This isn't a freak thing with him...He does this shit on a continuous basis...Hell he got two Browns players last year in the same quarter...But what do you expect from dolts that come out of Kent read, Kent write, Kent State...

Speaking of Kent State dummies, I decided to mix it up with Josh Cribbs on Twitter after his idiotic post-game tweet...

"
We almost pulled off an upset. The boys really Battled 2day ... All I can say is next time we meet, it will be in Cleveland!!!!"

So I responded with this...

"it will be in Cleveland!!!!" SO WHAT! Offense can't produce, and the D is out there busting ass. Almost doesn't count!!!!

He didn't respond to that, so Friday I tweeted this...

I unfollowed all Browns players I was following last night...God they suck! idiotic tweet pushed me over the edge! Whata dolt!

That got his attention...

" Finally thank you..."

Don't flatter yourself, I stopped following you over a year ago, you overpaid hack!

Now unlike many other athletes out there, Cribbs decided to stop before this blew up, knowing how it could turn into a story on Yahoo, about another Football player saying stupid shit on twitter...SO he left it with this...

Josh Cribbs
" Lol God Bless u..."

That kind of annoyed me...I would have respected him if he said FuckYou! But he's a Brown, and we've all seen what pussies they are!

Sunday Jesus Tebow won another game for the Broncos...Okay, this Tebow thing is kind of freaky, and annoying...All these talking heads keep talking about Tebow winning games, and Tebow's winning record...Ummm what the fuck about the Broncos defense that has been cock-strong...I didn't see Tebow out there shutting people down, and making sacks...And it wasn't fucking Tebow kicking 51 yard, game winning field goals...Pleas get off his nuts and start giving the rest of the team some nut-swing!

Thankfully my Sunday wasn't ruined by a Browns game...It was cold here in Cleveland, but the sun was out, so it wasn't too bad...So that meant Molly and I were heading to the park for a little swinging time...We got some in on Thursday too...So far December has been okay weather wise, and we're taking advantage of it...

That's it for now...Have a week...

The BEEZE'S HUMP DAY HITS 10-20-10
Category: User Showcase
Tags: NFL Hotties Hump Day Head Shots Violence Candice Swanepoel The Beeze James Harrison Brandon Merriweather

Ahhh, the Hump Day Hits...Well other than T&A the main topic is going to be hits...The hits to the head that have been taking place in the NFL...I held back from this topic Monday, because I wanted to see how the NFL reacted, and I wanted to see how the talking head reacted...I also wanted to step back myself, because there were a couple that really pissed me off Sunday, and those hits have gotten little attention...

I don't know what has happened...When I was growing up, we were taught to tackle guys around the waist area...But more and more players are going high...But even worse is that they are leading with their helmets...I think the fact that we are a voyeuristic, and violent society has contributed to it...Big hits have become a focal point during highlight shows...So I'm sure guys think making a big hit will get them air-time...And they're right...

The first and worst hit of the week was Brandon Merriweather's shot to Todd Heap's head...

This hit was so bad, and so cheap, Belichick benched Merriweather...This wasn't the first time he's done this...The league needs to make an example of him...

Next is Dunta Robinson's hit on Desean Jackson...

While Robinson didn't blast Jackson in the head, he did lead with his own head...And not like we were taught when we were kids...I remember a coach saying to put my face mask in the QB's chest...Robinson put his head down and put the crown of the helmet into Jackson's upper body...

But the two hits that have me pissed, and both have gotten little attention, happened in the same game, and were delivered by the same player...First James Harrison put his head down and launched his head into the side of Josh Cribbs head...Later, he put his head down and went after Mohamed Massaquoi's head...

These are not the first two times Harrison has used his helmet as a weapon...He's done this before, and assholes just say he plays the game hard...Yeah he does, and he throws cheap-shots around whenever he can...You know what, to hell with fining him...To hell with suspending him...Sooner or later he's going o learn the hard way...Either some one is going even with with him or, he's going to injure himself...

You don't think so? Ask Eric LeGrand what happens when you lead with the crown of your helmet...He became paralyzed Saturday...

After seeing that, I worry about letting my son play football...Looks like I'm going to be coaching football soon...Some one has to start teaching kids not to lead with their head...

I'd love to hear your thoughts on these hits and the whole topic of head-shots, and leading with the helmet, and the leagues reaction...Yes, They're talking about rule changes now...We all know football is a violent game, so should it there be changes?

Now it's time to lighten the mood...

This week we'll put a different spin on this...

Let's say you're going to meet Candice Swanepoel at the beach for a little quality Hump Day time...Which of these bathing suits would you most like to take off of her...
