NFL Fines Favre $50K For Failing To Cooperate With Investigation

Below is the article from Fox Sports, and it states that Favre failed to cooperate with the investigation. It's that lack of cooperation and his lack of any attempt to dispel all the accusations that led me to believe from day one he not only left her the voicemails but sent Sterger the photos of his "Mini Brett". He dodged the questions, his wife all of a sudden became absent from the media except for one appearance on "The CBS Morning Show" where she said her faith was getting her through the rough times, she refused to stand alongside her man, she also didn't attend anymore games after this story broke, so it makes you wonder if as soon as the season is over will Mrs. Favre be seeking to Favre to the cleaners? I reckon so!

We've all seen many athletes accused of a lot of transgressions but most come out fighting, yet Favre went about his days like nothing ever happened, and this lack of defense in every way had led me to belive that he was doing so because he was guilty as charged. As for this fine, well, it's a joke, at $1 million per game I think he'll be able to cough up that $50K in a blink.

The most disturbing sideshow of this NFL season is finally coming to a close.

Commissioner Roger Goodell has fined Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre $50,000 over the Jenn Sterger fiasco.

However, Favre wasn't found to have violated league policy with regards to Sterger, but was fined for failing to cooperate with the league's investigation.

FOXSports.com first reported that Favre was going to be fined.

The NFL issued a statement Wednesday, noting that Favre "was not candid in several respects during the investigation."

The release stated Favre was fined for "his failure to cooperate with the investigation in a forthcoming manner."

The league wanted to make a ruling before the end of the season but did not want to do it on New Year's Day.

The NFL was still interviewing and gathering information on the case as recently as last week.

Sterger, a former New York Jets media personality, had claimed Favre sexually harassed her when both were with the New York franchise in 2008.

Favre allegedly sent Sterger inappropriate text and phone messages, as well as photos of his genitalia. The allegations were first reported by Deadspin.com.

Favre admitted to leaving Sterger voice messages but denied sending her lewd photographs.

The NFL's investigation began in October, but the league did not talk directly with Sterger until Nov. 11.

In recent weeks, Sterger's camp had expressed concern a decision would not be forthcoming before the end of the regular season. Favre has said repeatedly this would be his final season. And while the 41-year-old quarterback has made that claim previously — not to mention, frequently — in his career, there is ample reason to believe him this time.

Unlike last year, when Favre was an MVP candidate and helped lead the Vikings to the NFC title game, this season has been much more difficult. With Favre struggling, the Vikings got off to a 3-7 start, resulting in the firing of head coach Brad Childress.

Favre has also had a hard time staying healthy this year. His NFL-record streak of 297 consecutive starts came to an end Dec. 13 because of a shoulder injury. Favre would return one week later against the Bears but was knocked out of that game — as well as Tuesday night's victory against the Eagles — with a concussion.

So as time was running out on the Vikings' season, there was legitimate reason to think Favre might not be around in 2011 to serve any potential penalty.

Instead, Wednesday's development will likely send Favre into retirement on a decidedly low note.

This past week has been filled with a lot of Brett Favre, yeah I know, what else is new? I’ve written so many things about this guy over the last few years I’ve developed a real hatred for the man. It’s hard sometimes to say you hate someone you don’t know personally, but in Favre’s case he’s made it pretty easy to despise him, and quite frankly he brings it all on himself. This week Jimmy Johnson was quoted as saying that he’s a “drama queen”, a term many of us have called him at one point or another. Are the talking heads in the world of sports finally coming around, maybe a little slow on the uptake, but I think they’ve tired of how he’s played games with the media for nothing more than feeding his insatiable appetite for attention.

The repeated comebacks, the games with teams year in and year out, will he be back, is he retiring, and all along his selfishness has effected many other lives, such as Aaron Rogers, Tavaris Jackson, head coaches, owner’s and of course the fans. He’s gone to Green Bay’s division nemesis through the backdoor via New York after a deal was made to release him only if he didn’t sign within the division, he left the Jets after ending their season with another of his trademark interceptions, pushing a pass where it should never had gone, trying to be the hero and bigger than the game once again. He still got the headlines that day, he LOST them the game and it dogged him. He did it to Minnesota again last year after having a career year, and yet he still pulled the same bullshit with them, obviously to avoid camp once again, waited to have surgery on an ankle that was trounced in the NFC championship game versus the Saints, who pummeled him relentlessly. That was the best day I ever had watching Favre play, I cheered hard every time he got tossed around like the old rag doll he is. Go home old man, this is a young man’s game I said!

Favre in the past week has been dogged by behavior we’ve seen from many, like Greg Oden, this new fad of “sexting”, which I don’t understand, sending pictures via text message of yourself fully nude or of a particular area to another with some hope that makes them say, “ hey, I’ve got to have that”! Favre hasn’t denied he sent these picks, it looks like his hands, his skinny legs, his reddish tinted flesh, and I have no doubt the egomaniac did it. Jenn Sterger hasn’t really said much which makes me believe her, and her not hiring Gloria Allred has given her a lot of credibility as far as I’m concerned, whenever that tool pops up she’s always representing some self-serving douchebag. The NFL is investigating it, but unless Sterger really makes a federal case out of it he’ll survive this, to a degree. Is his wife Deanne still standing by him, that’s hard to say, I haven’t seen her at a game in a couple of weeks, she’s probably humiliated by his behavior, but why did it take this and not all the other garbage he’s put teammates and fans through to possibly get her attention the man has some real issues? Maybe it’s just that the money is pretty good, it’s obvious he’s not taller lying down, besides the records aren’t hers, and it’s his legacy not hers that will be discussed for years to come, among other things. He’s certainly left a life in pictures, can you see the coffee table book?

This is a hell of a way to go out, most guys these days start out being sleaze bags, not waiting until the end of a lengthy career and having just christened a grandchild. I say that because this is nowhere near any replication of last season for Favre and the Vikings and I believe, like many he’s done! Personally, I had a lot of reservations that he’d even be able to start following ankle surgery, only because I know what the body feels like after being beaten down and having a lot of orthopedic surgery on joints, your body just never is the same, and with his mileage and age it’s pretty clear he’s feeling it from last year. The tendinitis in his elbow was so bad last week he was seen holding it numerous times and looking in pain. This week started with talks he’d possibly take the back seat, I never believed that for a second, he’s going to start, he might come out of the game at some point, but he’s not going to let his consecutive game record be jeopardized by elbow pain, his ego won’t let that happen, regardless of he realizes he’s just not up to the job anymore, he’s Brett Favre. My question is, when does Richard Childress go to his QB and say, sorry Brett, you’re out, Tavaris is going in and that’s just the way it’s going to be! We all know how well he takes orders so we could see a good show from the sidelines Sunday night. Someone on Sunday goes to 1-4 and undoubtedly is not going to finish in a spot for the post season, if it’s Minnesota do they cut their losses with this dope? Does he take a beating from Dallas’ defense if they show up and give another tearful goodbye, it’s over because he knows he can’t get the job done, walk away with his head hung lower than a puppy who pissed on the carpet?

It’s not going to matter to me, he’s going to be a candidate for Tool of the Week again next week, he’ll see to it, he doesn’t even have to try, in fact, he’s just about got Tool of the Year locked up, I can feel it in my achy bones.

My runner up for Tool of the Week is the entire Dallas Cowboy team. On paper there’s no reason they should be 1-3 and in this much trouble. What the big problem in Dallas is it’s not a team, it’s a bunch of individuals, who play with that “Look At Me”, selfless abandon they’ve become known for. Didn't you just love that celebration penalty last week, Witten scores, hands off to Colombo and he spikes the ball? Another example of simply no discipline in Dallas. This team has found more ways to self-destruct than any in recent memory. Their head coach Wade Weebles couldn’t coach a Pop Warner team, and the only reason Jerry Jones gives him a vote of confidence is there’s no one who wants the fucking job, no one with any coaching credentials wants to go to Dallas to play second fiddle to an owner who sits in the box wearing a headset and spends the second half of the game looking over their shoulder on the sidelines. Phillips is okay with it because he’s Jones’ bitch, plain and simple, he knows his role. Jones has finally found a coach who is putty in his hands, when Jerry says JUMP Philips says Yes Boss and that’s just the way he wants it. Why else do coaches who have had any success there previously last 2 years and then out? Simply because they couldn’t tolerate not being allowed to build the team, be a disciplinarian and do so with Jones relinquishing control of his team. Until Jones learns to leave the team to the football people he’s never going to be hoisting that trophy, but he’ll always find someone else to blame for it. Out!

Enjoy the games folks!
