Well its early Sunday morning, and I admit that I started to write my blog before I went to work this afternoon but all I could truly think about to write was about another Lion's player doing something stupid this week. But on my lunch I listened to WTRX and Buster Ohlney did a great piece on Barry Larkin's entry into Cooperstown tomorrow afternoon. So instead of ripping Corey Williams for his DUI, I have chose to write about Barry's wonderful baseball career.
Many thought that Barry was not worthy for whatever reason of not being worthy of the Hall of Fame. However, in my opinion he was the best shortstop of his era and maybe one of the best shortstops ever to play.
So here are some numbers that back up the committee's reasoning for voting him into the Hall of Fame....
-Won 1990 World Series with the Reds
-12 time NL All-Star: 1988, 1991, 1993-1997, 1999, 2000, 2004
-3 time NL Gold Glove winner: 1994-1996
-9 time NL SS Silver Slugger winner: 1998-1992, 1995,1996, 1998, 1999
-Became the first shortstop in Major League history to hit 30 home runs and steal 30 bases in the same season (1996)
-1993 winner of the Roberto Clemente Award
-1994 winner of the Lou Gehrig Memorial Award
-Stole a career high 51 bases in 1995
Finished career with a .295 batting average, 2340 hits, 198 home runs, 960 RBIS, 379 stolen bases and 441 doubles.
I know some of his career numbers may not speak of Hall of Fame, but his other on the field accomplishments including a World Series ring speaks for itself. But the one thing that they cannot take from him, is that he was a true professional not caught up in the apparent steroid era......
Maybe the Lion's defense ought to think about OTA's, upcoming training camps and staying the hell to home. Instead of smoking dope, drinking and driving and whatever stupid shit they have done during this off-season. It is no wonder this team gets no respect from its fans and the rest of the league. There defense is full of a bunch of dumbasses that must not want to win their division and take the next step. What a group of immature jackasses, but as usual I will support them this year because it is the right thing to do. The funny thing about it is, you never heard anything from the Lion's organization this off season even reprimanding them for their actions during the off season. I guess these guys need to spend their money on a designated driver, or at least stay at home and get their drink and smoke on......
A couple of weeks ago, I mentioned in a blog that the Tigers were dead. Guess I was wrong, they have the same identical record as last year through 94 games. Look out Beezer they are hot and coming to Cleveland Tuesday, maybe you will get a few Tigers fans in the park this week to help attendance.......
Finally I will share the news, I am seeing a sports medicine specialist on Thursday, sounds like the old rotator cuff in my shoulder is torn and will need to be repaired. I am not honestly looking forward to this, because it has officially killed my bow and rifle hunting this fall which is something I look forward to because it gets me away from the wife and kids for a few hours a day during the couple of months that we are allowed to hunt. But at least I will still be able to fish, not my favorite hobby but it will do in order to kill some time while I am recovering for those lovely 6-8 weeks at home with my wife.
If Jeff doesn't mind, I would like to borrow this: "Thanks for Stopping By, and feel free to leave your Random Thoughts and comments." Have a Great Week Everyone!

Since I like classic rock, I have decided to start a little something new for the beginning of my weekly blogs. I am going to find a song that reminds me of a particular event or series of events that have taken place during the week. I thought I would start this blog with this particular song that reminds me of a few of this weeks past events
http://detroit.tigers.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20120124&content_id=26452690&vkey=news_det&c_id=det
and like if this link is true, which normally it is.... I pity the AL Central Pitchers next year when VMart returns.....
And to please the Beezer I found this video of his favorite girl Kate Upton, so here ya go Beezer:
Unfortunately my two younger children Taylor and Noah were in the room at the time as I was trying to watch her do the Dougie.......
Unfortunately, Joe Paterno will not be remembered for his 400+ wins but for what Jerry Sandusky allegedly has done. Joe Pa was the one of the greatest coaches to ever coach in any sport. O.J. McDuffie said in an interview on ESPN radio Sunday, he turned boys into men and truly cared about each of his players, along with Penn St. University. I remember some of the greatest games I had ever seen was when Penn St. first entered the Big 10, and they were playing Michigan. Both teams were dominating each other and the games came down to the final plays in most cases. Maybe he stayed too long, but he was also quoted as saying he did not want to retire a couple months later like his rival Paul "Bear" Bryant did when he retired from coaching Alabama. Unfortunately for Joe Pa, it was two months and a day I believe it was said since he was fired. What a shame he met the same fate as "Bear." Please watch this tribute to Joe Pa and enjoy.......
I thought I was finished with my blog for the week, due to a ton of assignments in my microeconomics and public relations courses, but I have a few more things to say.....
For those of you that do not realize this, this was how Mr. Illitch built the Red Wings into Stanley Cup Champions. He is known for risk taking, even though this was not as big a risk as most think. A few years back he signed Hasek, Hull and even Luke Robataille and won a Stanley Cup. It is in his nature to do so, so I commend him for taking a chance on a kid who has seen nothing but success since coming to the majors in 2006. Last s.eason, he was second in NL in all major categories, and did you know he will take a walk? Stats don't lie, he has almost 600 walks to go along with his 228 home runs. I remember going to Tiger Stadium and seeing him as a youngster, hanging around the batting cage, hell he grew up in Detroit more or less while his daddy played here. I am not surprised he is here now, wearing a Tiger uniform. Great Job Dave Dombrowski, you added a piece to the puzzle that should eventually make this team a winner again.
I was a little disappointed when I heard that Roy Oswalt was leaving the Phillies and signing with the Cardinals. The Tigers could really use him on their staff this year, he would have really helped the younger pitchers with his knowledge of pitching. What the hell, what's another $100 million or so, to help Verlander, Fister, Porcello and Scherzer mature even more?
Football, Football, Football tomorrow's the Pro Bowl, does anyone actually care? This is the kickoff of our favorite week, Super Bowl Week where everyone who can get a media pass is in Indianapolis covering this game. Hey Sully can you get me press credentials, and I will go down there and cover it for the Gab. This blog is becoming kind of fun, and the best part is that the Packers are not there.
Did anyone see the hardest shot competition tonight Chara is ridiculous 108 mph, I wouldn't want to block that shot, that would really hurt.
So this concludes another weekly blog, as I have to return to my weeks worth of assignments in microeconomics and public relations. Thanks for reading my post and have a great week preparing for the Super Bowl.

Hello from Michigan everyone, I know it has been quite a while since you have last heard from me but I am pissed off at my professional sports team, and I will tell you why........

I understand that football is a game of emotions, but come on guys you are taking it a bit too far and now it is costing you games. The first 8 games you played some awesome football, coming back from huge deficits and making us believe in you once again. Now over the past 6 weeks or so, you are embarrassing once again and showing the rest of the league that you are not ready to become a playoff team. Last nights game was typical old school Lions from years past, had a game that even though you fell down 17 points to Saints you had a real CHANCE TO WIN!!! It is time for you to wake up as a team, or even grow up and stop using thug tactics during the game. After the Thanksgiving embarrassment on Fox, you would think that you would have learned something from it but apparently not.
Don't you remember you are only 3 years or so from 0-16, which gave you most of the team you have right now. Do you still want to continue to be an embarrassment to yourselves, along with continuing to be the laughing stock of the NFL? I understand that you are pissed off about being laughed at for the past 10 years, not all your fault by any means, but don't you want some respect of from your peers around the league? So keep playing like this and now your season is falling apart, if you continue playing like this you will be sitting at home January 2nd watching the playoffs just like in years past and the only one you will have to blame is YOURSELF.....

Boys this team is tough, but they also have been successful while playing that way. Sure they take some penalties from time to time, but the are WINNERS!! If you want to be winners, then you better clean your act up a bit as not to cost you games like last night. YOU ARE EMBARRASSING YOURSELVES AND YOUR FANS!!!! Now on to other things....

WTF, are the Bears that desperate that they need him to be the quarterback?

I do not know why, but I was actually rooting for him to succeed this year with the Eagles. But he finally got hurt bad enough not to be able to play, and the rest of the team quit on Vince Young. Go Figure....
a
This is what the bowl selection committee can do, how can an average team like Ohio State who cheated mind you get a bowl bid? Just goes to show you that it is all about the money, and not your morals. MONEY, MONEY, MONEY gotta please the corporate sponsorship and the NCAA by putting their wallets first and not giving this team a bowl game.
Thanks for reading my post, until next time.........

Well since my computer is acting stupid today, and will not let me upload any pictures I am going a solo as you see it. The NBA season is a complete wash this season due to the EGO MANIAC David Stern. I am sure that the owners are really proud of what they have accomplished by causing a lost season, after all they just write it off as a loss when they do their taxes anyway. As we all know the owners really won, because most of them own or share ownership of the building they play in, they will not have to pay the players, coaches and concession stand workers. SO THEY WIN ALL THE WAY AROUND, so don't let them fool you with their feel sorry for us speeches they are giving when we all know they are laughing on the inside. To bad they are so ignorant to the fact, that even though there is no wear and tear on their star players, they still lose a year because they get a year older, and the lockout shortens their careers........
I feel sorry for the family of Dan Wheldon, man what a crappy way to die. I remember watching Dale Sr. crash and die and it was absolutely awful. May he rest in peace, I know because of his success his family is well taken care of.
I also am manning up and taking my punishment, after a summer of bragging about how good the Tigers were, they ran out of gas in the playoffs and with the exception of a few players, they could not have hit a softball if it was being pitched during the playoffs. So on we go, with hopes once again for another run at the playoffs next season. They should be just as good next year, so they should be a contender next season as well, providing the Royals and Indians do not improve over the winter.
The Red Wings are the same old team, but with a different look. The last two seasons, they forgot what had gotten them to the finals. Defense and protecting your goalie, leads to offense, and it looks like they found that again over the summer.
Thanks for reading my post, see everyone in YGS land soon. Norm

Happy Sunday everyone out there in Yougab land, I thought I would start by commending the bandwagon jumping Tampa Bay Ray fans who for 4 months could have gave a shit less about the Rays. But September 1st came along and the Rays started winning, and then came the fans supporting their ugly duckling franchise. Pretty sad, you can go watch a crappy football team, and support your hockey team year around, but you cannot support your baseball team who won the East last season and made the playoffs. Wake up residents of Tampa, this team needs you to attend games for more than a month if you want them to stay......... Geesh they could end up winning the Series, and you knuckle headed idiots probably still would not attend games next season. But then you wonder why your owners cannot keep a team together that won nearly 100 games last season? Think about it attendance and supporting your local team for 6 months does matter, if your ownership group is not making money, they cannot afford to sign your key players keeping your team in tact, just sayin.......
Now that I got that off my chest, off to another subject of interest the Suckeyes as Beeze likes to call them. My hats off to Michigan State's defense showing up today, and punching Ohio State right in the mouth 10-7.

Good by Ozzie, the A.L. Central will not be the same without you next season. If the rumors are true, Terry Francona is coming to Chicago, he does not have your style. I cannot believe I am saying this, but good luck with the Marlins next season as they open their new stadium. I hope their bandwagon fans come out and support your team that you put out there next season. Who you gonna trade for first Adam Dunn and Jose Rios? I really do not want to offend anyone, but the White Soxs and Cubs need a major overhaul, maybe they should trade Kenny Williams to the Marlins also........
I know I promised a preview on the San Jose Sharks this week, but baseball became a focus once again with everything going on. How about the Cardinals blowing a pretty big lead tonight against the Phillies, and losing 11-6, or the Yankees hammering the Tigers? I never thought or seen either of this, I figured they would be one-run games......
Finally, I hope for the Cowboy's sake they find a way to keep Suh and the rest of the Lion's defensive front four away from Tony Romo. I wish him no harm, he is one of my quarterbacks in one of my fantasy leagues, but if they do not block them we will probably wind up seeing John Kitna before the game is over.
For the Red Sox and Braves, you kind of got what you deserved, if you would have finished .500 in September we would be tortured by your teams once again in the ALDS. Thank you Baltimore and Philadelphia for sparing us from listening to the announcers kissing the Red Sox ass during the ALDS, even though their pitching staff outside of Josh Beckett absolutely sucked the entire month of September. Also thank you to the Phillies for sparing us from watching an aging Lowe and Hudson get knocked around by your lineup, apparently the Cardinals are going to meet your same fate if they do not get their act together quickly.
Thanks for reading my post, see ya next week!!!!
