Well here we are again...Time to get our Hump on!
It's the most wonderful time of the year folks...Football season is here...Yes, I'm a huge Hockey fan, and there's nothing better than the Stanley Cup Playoffs...But growing up in North East Ohio, it is all about Football...And here, the season started last Friday...The kids and I followed the High School Band down to the stadium, and watched our team take on their neighborhood rival...The owned us, 26-0...They needed to get payback for the beating we gave them last year...
Tomorrow night the College Football season kicks off with a few games...A little warm up for Saturday...Ahhh, Saturday...Fighting Irish Football returns as they take on Purdue...The first step to the turnaround many of us have been waiting for...I'm ready for it!
I have to fired up for College Football, because living in Cleveland, I don't have much faith in the Browns...Thank God there's Fantasy Football to keep me interested in the NFL...Speaking of Fantasy Football, here's a tip from the Beeze...
DON'T DRAFT THAT HACK MATT LEINART! While you're at it, just avoid drafting any Arizona Cardinals...If Derek Anderson starts, he'll throw just as many to the opposing team as he will to his own guys...Believe me, I saw him do it last year! Cardinals receivers numbers will be down...And don't think Beanie Wells will be the key...teams are gonna put 8 in the box to stop the run, 'cause they don't fear anyone at the QB position...
Back to College Football...Many expected the University of North Carolina Tar Heels to have big season this year...Well, things aren't looking so good anymore...As the 'Heels are getting ready to open their season, they're being investigated by the NCAA for multiple violations...There are rumors of players having contact with an agent...Also there has been even more talk about some inappropriate academic behavior having to do with the teams former tutor...Accusations include, the tutor doing assignments for some of the players...It's also been said the tutor also worked for Coach Butch Davis' family...Well, Butch, you were dolt in Cleveland, why would that change just 'cause you moved back down south?
Now to the important stuff...On this fine Hump Day, which cheerleader tops your preseason rankings...
A. Some Beaver power from Oregon State!
B. How about some practice time with a Sooner?
C. Who wants to see if those Clemson Tigers growl?

I realized today that my Monday Moaning post didn't include anything about the Little Beeze...When this happens, I hear about it...The little guy has gotten a bit of a following...So before I put him to bed tonight, I told him I was going to do a blog for him...I asked him what he wanted in it...Any pictures, or videos, or songs...Whatever he picked...That's why this post opened with a shark jumping out of the water...As I wrote in my vacation posts, Little Beeze is really into sharks...He got his fourth toy shark yesterday in a dollar bin...He loves having those sharks eat stuff...
My parents gave him a bunch of my old G.I.Joes and he's broken them apart, pretending the sharks are eating them...He loves to have their legs dangling from a sharks mouth...Should we be worried? Maybe I should get him a toy seal....
In other Little Beeze news, we've been trying to get his mouth under control...Little dude is a swearing machine, and the following video is not helping, but it's one of his favorites, and he wanted it in...
The best part is he has can recite it almost word for word, and he does the accent perfectly...The wife gets mad every time I let him watch it, because he walks around the house just repeating parts of it...
He's also excited about his little sister that's due in December...He loves babies, and he got a kick out of this one on AFV...
That little kid looks like he has some good form...
Lastly, he picked a song...I've corrupted my children's musical taste from day one...It started with headphones on my wife's belly during all the pregnancies...My kids have heard everything from John Coltrane, to The Who, to Van Halen, to Counting Crows...And that's what he picked...His favorite Counting Crows song is "Holiday in Spain", mainly for the line, "Hop on my choo choo, I'll be your engine driver in a bunny suit. You can dress me up in pink and white, we may be just a little fuzzy 'bout later tonight."And I wonder why he's a little pervert!
Now I have to remember to pound it into his head on the way to school tomorrow, 'Don't repeat the lizard video at school!'

Ahhh, another Monday is here...I have to be honest, I don't have a lot on my mind other than the usual...SEX, SEX, SEX! I got a lot out there last week, but I'll see what I can muster up...
One of the blogs I posted last week was about JIM_BROWN_ACTING_LIKE_A_DOUCHE... Well now, I guess this week I'll write about Cleveland Browns fans being douches...
Browns fans are pissed because the "Muni Lot", Muni Lot= Municipal Parking Lot, where fans tailgate before games, is raising the price from $15 to $20...Hey, gang, sorry the city needs money, and you fuckers park there all day and night and trash the place...Pony up the extra 5 bucks...
The other thing they're pissed about is, the City (remember Municipal parking lot) has decided to not allow tailgaters in until 7:00AM...The old time was 4:00AM...
What, 7:00AM doesn't give you people enough time to get hammered before the game...Did you people ever think that maybe your a problem...7:00AM gives you 6 hours before a 1:00PM kickoff...9 hours before 4:00PM kickoff...I think that's plenty of time to pound beers, eat brats, throw the ball around, pound beers, talk shit with the opposing teams fans, puke on some ones shoes, pound beers, and start a fight...Did you people ever think the city is tire of cleaning up your mess...Tired of the horse shit they deal with from drunken fans...Tired of the complaints about the drunken fans...
Listen, this isn't me bitching about people drinking...I love drinking...I'm drinking a Dortmunder right now, as I write this nonsense...The thing is, my whole life, I've heard what great fans Clevelanders are...Especially Browns fans...Let's be honest...Cleveland fans only come out for the Indians and Cavs when they are winning...Tickets are too expensive, and they play too many games for the average Clevelander to turnout night after night...Clevelanders have always turned out for the Browns...But just showing up doesn't make you a great fan...
What Browns fans should really be pissed about? They should be pissed that tailgating has become their biggest highlight of going to the game...They should be pissed that the team they have stood behind forever, continues to put piece of shit product out on the field...Their team moved away, and they fought for the name and the history...They fought to get a new team and new stadium...They got it all, and since they got all in 1999, they have shown up to watch some of the worst Football you can imagine...They have seen 5 different Head Coaches, and 4 different GM's, and they have all produced a steaming pile of shit...They should be pissed that they went from being great fans, to being blind sheep...
Moving on...Let's checkout this week's top tweets...
JimNorton "Gov Patterson in trouble for taking free World Series tickets. Hey, YOU'RE BLIND YOU ASSHOLE, LISTEN TO IT ON THE RADIO!"
This next one doesn't say anything great, it's all about the link...
wwtdd "bad Jessica Alba upskirt pics are still better than everyone elses good ones. http://bit.ly/8XN3eX"
andylevy "Paris Hilton arrested for cocaine possession. Has the whole world gone normal?"
And this guy sums up the Red Sox season...
DaddyFiles "This Sox season has been like dating a virgin. You're always close but she won't quite let you in & your balls constantly hurt in the end."
Now it's time for some new music...I found this via facebook...
With that all said, I apologize if I'm cutting it short this week, but I gotta go...I can't stop thinking about my kids' ASSistant Principle...Time for self abuse...

There are very few moments that I will admit to crying...And there are very few moments when I openly cried in front of my parents and brothers...August 27th, 1990 was one of those days...When I heard the news that Stevie Ray Vaughan had died, I lost it...Music was a big thing in our house, and I couldn't get enough great guitar playing...SRV has always been in my top 5...He was simply amazing...
There was only one person who could play Hendrix tunes like that and do them justice, and that was SRV...
His music still lives on, but his presence in the music world is greatly missed...

It may sound cold, but am I wrong...The number one reason to watch the Washington Nationals is Stephen Strasburg, and now that he won't be pitching for at least 12-18 months...What other reason is there?
That's right, the rookie sensation has a tear in his right elbow, and it looks like he'll need to have "TOMMY_JOHN_SURGERY" Some pitchers come back with no problem...Some lose velocity...For some it takes two years to get back in form...How long it will take Strasburg, nobody knows...What I do know is, that excitement around the Nationals that got ramped up a couple months ago when they brought the kid up to the big leagues, is gone...
In his brief time in the majors, Strasburg made 12 starts, pitching 68 innings, recording 92 strikeouts, a 2.91 ERA, and a 5-3 record...His 92 strikeouts leads the Nationals staff...
When the Nats signed Strasburg to his $15 million deal, it was for 4 years...Doesn't look like he's gonna spend much of that time pitching...Shit, and I thought it was tough being a fan in Cleveland.

If you ask me, I'll say yes...If you don't know what I'm talking, I'll explain...The Cleveland Browns are adding a "Ring of Honor" this year, to their horrible stadium...Seriously, that place blows! Before their opener they will be having a ceremony to induct their first class in the "Ring of Honor." All Browns Hall of Famers will be inducted...But Jim Brown has made it know, that he probably won't be there because of his, now soured relationship with the organization...Many fans are upset with Browns owner, Randy Lerner, and want him to fix this...NOT ME!
Why did this relationship go bad? Because Brown had held the title of "Executive Advisor" for a number of years, but when Lerner hired Mike Holmgren to be the team's President, Holmgen did what he felt needed to be done to try and turn the organization around...Brown was removed from his position...Out of respect and courtesy, he was offered another, more meaningless position in the front office, and refused it...Now he's pouting, and feeling slighted...Sorry Jim, but the only people who should feel slighted are the Browns fans that have seen nothing but crap from this organization since 1999...
Brown is well known for being one of the greatest running backs in football history...Maybe even the greatest...He also did some acting...How can we forget him in "The Dirty Dozen"? Brown is also well known for smacking around a woman or two in his day, because he's so classy...But many people ignore that because of his social activism, and working with gang members, to try and stop them from being dolts...Possibly dead dolts...But you know what Jim Brown isn't well known for? Making smart, and intelligent football decisions in the front office...How many have you heard of? I'll tell ya...NONE! Scoreboard Jim...Holmgren and the staff he has put together have a much better track record when it comes to front office moves...If I was Randy Lerner, I'd rather have Holmgren advising me, instead of Brown! Lerner may have actually made a smart move...
So yes, Jim Brown is acting like a child...If he doesn't show up for the ceremony, so what? I don't care about all that garbage...But many of his fans want him there, and honestly, that should be enough of a reason for Brown to be there...It isn't about the teams love for these great players, it's about the fans love for them, and he should give a little back.

Well The kids started school today...Then Friday my son doesn't have school, he just has some testing they were suppose to do a month ago, but they screwed up, so all the kindergartners are losing a day for an 45 minutes of one on one time with their teacher...I don't know...Last night we had an open house where we met the teachers and blah, blah, blah...Then after everyone was asleep last night, I had some alone time to think about violating the assistant principle, who looks something like this...
GO GET HER LITTLE BEEZE!
Moving on...I've noticed a trend lately, on a number of blogs I've read...People when writing about writing, are referring to it as dribble...You are all dolts! The word is DRIVEL...You dribble a Basketball...The crap you write is DRIVEL! WTF, here comes some more drivel...
Did you hear the one about Red Sox Announcer Jerry Remy's Kid? THIS one screams of class!
Word is That the NHL is going to, or already has killed the New Jersey Devils second offer to Ilya Kovalchuk...The terms haven't been released, at least last time I checked, and nothing was actually signed...Maybe it's time for the Devils to give up...They don't have the cap space for the money this egomaniac wants...Most teams don't...He wants to be the highest paid player, and he doesn't deserve it...I expect they'll be seeing him in the KHL this season...F*ck him! I wouldn't want him on my team...So he was a superstar on some awful teams in Atlanta...Way to go! He didn't give the Devils the push in the Playoffs they needed...And he rarely plays solid defense...Him, his agent, and multiple GM's have overrated him, and I love that he's not getting the insane contract he wants...
Now it's time to get to the important stuff...This is the back to school edition, but if you're sitting there home schooling your kid, you may not want to scroll any further if they are sitting next to you...
So, on this fine Hump Day, which of these teachers are you most hot for...

(This is a re-post, of something I wrote last year, and I probably will continue to do so, as long as I keep blogging...I know this is a Sports site, and this is not a sports story, but it's an important story to me.) Friday August 24th 1951, 10 year old Beverly Potts vanished from her Cleveland neighborhood...Never to be seen again...The case is still open...And even though it has nothing to do with me...It haunts me...
She had disappeared after attending a showagon at Halloran Park....The showagon was a group of singers dancers, and other performers, that went from park to park near the end of Summer...Halloran Park was at the corner of Beverly's street, Linnet and 117th...
Beverly had gone there with her best friend and next door neighbor, Patsy Swing...Beverly was told she stay for the whole show...Patsy had to be home by dark...When it got close to 9:00 PM...Patsy left...She tried to get Beverly to come with her...But Beverly wanted to stay...And did...
Once it was 10:00 PM, Beverly's parents, and older sister became worried...Her father and sister went to the park to look for her...They came back with no signs of Beverly...They checked again...Her mother called the police...Later, after the police hadn't shown up...Her sister called the police again...It was now after midnight...The search was on...Her father Robert searched the neighborhood...Neighbors began to realize something was wrong...And started searching also...
By all accounts, Beverly was extremely shy...Especially around boys, and men...Even men she knew...So the thought that she would have left willingly with some one was highly doubted...Yet no one at the park had noticed any type of struggle, or anything alarming...It's estimated that there was 1500 people there...
Then Saturday morning came...No sign of Beverly...The neighborhood was in shock...The Cleveland police was working non-stop, lead by Chief of Detectives, James E. McArthur...Every lead...I stress every, was checked out...Hot lines were setup...All three Cleveland papers were covering the story, non-stop...
One of the scariest things to me, is the number of stories that came out...A woman down the block from the Potts house hearing a girl scream "I want to go home!" as a car sped by...A man seeing a young girl in a car with an older man...And then seeing that car in a field a short time later, about a mile or so away...The man beating the girl...A cab driver picking up a suspicious looking man and a young girl on 117th, and taking them to the bus station...These are just a few...You can't be sure what is true, and what isn't...But if any of them are true, why the hell didn't some one do something, or speak up sooner...
There was also many reports of people seeing a particular type of car...With a creepy looking person...Some accounts saying two people...Trolling around the park during the Showagon...
It's all so sketchy...Especially almost 60 years later...Yet...Even today...If a tip comes in...It's checked out...It's still an open case...Nothing has ever been found...
"The earth might as well have opened up and swallowed the child. She has vanished into nothing." -Ben R. Tidyman in the Cleveland Plain Dealer, 9-4-'51
The Potts family was investigated...Neighbors interviewed...Classmates interviewed...Every know sex offender questioned...I was surprised to read how well the police kept tabs on sex offenders back then...Over the years, there have been many promising tips, that have just never panned out..
In 2001 letters were received at the Cleveland Plain Dealer...A dying man confessing to the disappearance, molestation, and murder of Beverly...On the 50th anniversary of the disappearance, he was going to turn himself in at Halloran Park...Then he sent another letter, just weeks before...Saying he has become to sick, and was being put into a nursing home...The Police checked everything and anything they could...The man was never found....Beverly has never been found...No trace of her has ever been found...
It's been said, that after Beverly's disappearance, Her mother Elizabeth, "seemed to be crying softly virtually all the time." I can only imagine. Elizabeth Potts died 5 years later, in 1956...
I said at the beginning that this story haunts me...I'm not sure why...I do know that it bothers me even more, now that I have kids of my own...My father grew up at Halloran Park...It was just steps from his childhood home...He knew of Beverly Potts...He's a few years older then her...She was friends with my aunt...
I had spent plenty of time at Halloran Park when I was kid...We'd walk up there when we were visiting my grandfather...I didn't find out about the Beverly Potts story until I was in high school...Although I didn't think much of it...But I always felt uneasy at the park after that...I took my wife there once...It was our first date that didn't start in a bar after work...We went ice skating there...But I still felt strange...I drive past Halloran everyday...And I think about what may have happened to that little girl...
I always think about how much better things were in our society, when i was kid...I knew there were kid touchers, and evil people...I was prepared for it...But it didn't seem to be too bad...Then I would think about when my parents were growing up, and how much better a time it was in the world...There couldn't be this much bad sh!t...Then I learned about Beverly Potts...And her story leads you to so many more horrible stories that happened back then...Clearly, this world has always been f**ked up....
I guess all we can do is prepare our children for the bad as best we can...While not forgetting to show them the good...
Many times you hear questions like, 'If you could ask God one question...What would it be?' Or some silly sh!t like that...I'd ask, WHERE'S BEVERLY POTTS?
Not that it would do any good for her family...They're all gone...Maybe it's just my Catholic upbringing that just wants that poor child's soul to finally rest peacefully.
For more on Beverly Potts case...There is a great book called "The Twilight Of Innocence" by James Jessen Badal.
