The NFL draft starts tonight and there are upwards of 1000 experts that have put their mock drafts out for your reading and entertainment pleasure.
I did a mock draft 2 years ago, I had 32 picks wrong of the first 32. that was my first and last attempt of mockerainna Now I just look amused as I read these other fools attempts to figure out what the actual drafting people are doing.
I would say as an annual draft watcher, BB will either pick some guy you never heard of who, was more than likely a 4 year starter and a team captain and
…or he will trade down into the 2nd round and the 3rd round and maybe a 7th throw in.
he may trade up…he did that a couple of years back and got Donta Hightower and Chandler Jones.
BB has been involved in 15 drafts with the Patriots and has made 53 trades in those 15 years…so my guess is that he he keeps that average intact and is involved in 3.53 trades this year.
The big stories were, Revis, Vereen and Ridley were there and Brady, Wilfork and team president Jonathan Kraft skipped the visit. Why were these stories? I personally like the fact that none tried to make an excuse or tried to stir the pot in a Tim Thomas sort of way.
Back to the draft, Who will go first or second, who will take a chance on QB’s Winston and Mariota and will San Diego trade Philip Rivers to Tennessee. we will see the winners and losers all scored on the various sports networks and sites but the real results will be seen next January when the playoff start and the elite 12 still get to play.
My Red Sox are off to a mediocre start with the help of their mediocre starting rotation
Buchholz: 4 starts 1-2 record with a 4.84 era
Kelly: 3 starts 1-0 record with a 4.08 era
Porcello: 4 starts 1-2 record with a 6.48 rea
Miley: 4 starts 1-2 record with a 8.62 era
Masterson: 4 starts 2-0 record with a 5.16 era
We knew we had a staff of 3’s,4’s, and 5’s and so it’s panning out that way with this .500 team. They can hit and are averaging 6 runs a game but that won’t be enough to win with this crew. Things are looking down…
I have a little tax story to share. I work in the small State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations (which is it’s official name)… I live in Massachusetts. Hence, RI takes taxes all year long from my pay check and at the end of the year when I file my tax returns I have a MA, a Fed and a RI return. I hate loaning money at NO interest to the government so I try to keep as much as possible during the year and pay a small amount before the April 15th deadline.
As it worked out this year, I overpaid the Federal and RI taxes and underpaid MA. The total RI owed me was slightly more than I owed MA so on Feb 18th I filed my Fed and RI returns thinking I’d get the check from RI before my MA payment was due. As of April 14th I hadn’t received anything from RI…so I reluctantly wrote the check to MA.
Last week I was at a function with my wife and we ran into our accountant. He asked how I made out with RI with kind of a knowing smirk on his face. I told him my situation, he told me to call them and ask because RI is notorious for losing things…like tax returns.
I called and left a voice mail with my situation and phone number. I got a callback later that day. The woman calling from the RI DOR told me my return had gone into “fraud protection” Asking her why they were just getting around to telling me now on a Tax return filed on February 18th, she really couldn’t say but told me that someone from their office would be calling me to ask me identity questions to prove I was who I said I was before they would send the refund. I asked her who would be calling, She responded, “one of us from this department”
I asked “are you from that department”
she said “yes”
I said ” can you ask me the questions?”
she said, “I could”
I said, ” will you please”
She at that time agreed and asked me for my SS number, my wife’s name and DOB.
I answered and said, “did I pass”
she said “yes”
I said “when can I expect my refund?”
She said “probably by the end of next week”
I said, “why not this week seeing how you now know I am me?”
She said ” we are a small office so sometimes these things take time”
I said, “it’s been since February 18th, that’s enough time”
She assured I would get my refund this week…I don’t have it yet.
Just a quick thing on old cars, this past week I was helping my mother sort out old papers she’s kept “just in case”
its the purchase agreement dated 1953 for my Dad’s spanking new 1953 Pontiac Chieften Delux with a straight 8, radio and heater, white side wall tires…and 3 on the tree.
He paid $2,395 for it and got a $50.00 used car trade in discount for his 1931 Chevy coupe.
Can you imagine owning either of these today!
