Hello folks, and welcome to this week’s Grumble with IHM. This week saw yours truly actually work a couple of 8 hour days and a couple 9 hour days… finally starting to scale back a bit! Just under a month from now, the vacation time finally kicks in. One hell of a long first year at this gig, but it looks like I’ll get there (the place I work gives you zero time off until you hit the one year mark). Not sure how much further than that I’ll get… but it’s a milestone none the less!
So LA seems to be the epicenter of douchebaggery for the month. First you found out that Stan Kroenke is moving the Rams back to the city they failed in before, and that the Chargers are following suit. Now, the Raiders are considering a move in a year or so. Sure the folks in Oakland will be understanding of all that talk! Then you get all the Oscar talk… mainly Will Smith’s wife throwing a fucking fit because her husband didn’t get a nomination. Of course it wasn’t because six actors were better than he was this year… nope, it’s because he’s black. Of course it is. Fun fact about Will Smith’s previous two nominations for best actor…
Just going to leave that there…
Speaking of douchebaggery in LA, how about Blake Griffin? Guy was already out with a hammy injury, and now he’s out about another month because he broke his hand punching a member of the team’s equipment staff. That’s about as stupid as it gets right there, folks. But I sure do love to hate the Clippers… hopefully he’ll be back in time to be front and center for their next playoff failure!
The freaking Golden State Warriors, however, have luckily taken a lot of the Cali spotlight away from this douche-fest in LA. Damn is this a good basketball team. If I could watch San Antonio and Golden State go at it in the NBA Finals, they could just cancel the remaining schedules of every other team and put these two into a best of 7 for the title right now… and I sure as hell wouldn’t argue with it. Unfortunately only one can advance out of the West; but the chances are good that we’ll be seeing this matchup again in the Western Conference Finals.
Congrats to Andre Drummond on making his first All-Star team. Drummond was named a reserve for the East squad… and this is the first Piston I can remember being involved in the game in around ten years!
Don’t look now, but the Pistons are sitting in the six spot in the East, and within easy striking distance of the #3 seed. This team has become more and more entertaining to watch as the season has gone on, and now that Brandon Jennings is back and healthy things are only looking up. If they can stay away from a first round date with Cleveland or Toronto, they might just not only qualify for the playoffs, but win a playoff series this year!
One more week of football left, and it’s the big one! That’s right, Super Bowl L happens in just two short weeks in San Francisco. I guessed half of the game right, as the Panthers took the NFC Title after a beatdown of the Cardinals and the Patriots lost to the Denver Donkeys in the AFC title game. Honestly, should be a hell of a game. If anybody has the ability to break down that tough Denver defense, it’s the quickness and abilities of Cam Newton. Hoping we get a good football game, even if I have to stay sober this year (work in the morning on Monday).
19 days til pitchers and catchers report people… 19 days! Where the hell did this winter go? No complaints for sure… just hoping we can make it through without any major snow.
Well, that’s all I’ve got for this week, folks. Thanks as always for reading and for any comments you leave on the way out. Have a great weekend, Gabbers!
