Hello Gabbers. Vacation is 2/3 completed, but as the title says I needed a “Digital Detox”. Seven years of constant internet participation took its toll. Things had been getting to me and rather than just give a half-hearted and bitter effort, I needed a break. and while in Florida I stayed away from TV’s and Internet for the most part. I had a complete break with it while in Reno, and I still have a three day trip to Monterey in the next few days where I will be completely cut off.
I was reading an article about Digital Detox in a vacation magazine and these snobs who wrote the article couldn’t find a better example of digital detox than going to a place in Switzerland? What the hell ever happened to working hard to find places in the USA that do the same thing? You know like dude ranches or beaches or mountain cabins? I don’t think we need to go to Switzerland, maybe just turning off our electronic leashes every once in a while will help.
I feel a bit better and will have plenty to say in the next few weeks, but a few things I want to get off my chest:
California $15/hour minimum wage. Lord knows that people need more money, so California is apparently going to follow Seattle’s lead with this doubling of the wage. But with the good will come the bad – businesses will have to raise their prices and in the future more jobs will become automated. Many jobs will go to part-time, any my guess is that as prices go up in restaurants tips will go down.
But then again, alcohol and tobacco are priced out of range yet many people still pay the price, so there’s that…
Oh, and how many more businesses will leave my state? There’s already a mass exodus, I don’t even want to imagine what is going to happen in the years to come.
Lastly, what will be the reaction of those who make above minimum wage? Will they demand raises too? What about that mid-level manager who will be making an equal amount as the minimum wage? What will be their incentive to work harder?
And what about that 40 and 50 year old who will be cut out of the work force? If you think that won’t happen, think again. It will happen.
This might be great for the do-gooders in San Francisco and LA, but in the common sense part of California, it won’t work. It’s already too hard to find a job.
This is not a talking head point, I simply don’t trust businesses to do the right thing, and trust me these guys today will be in the “strategic planning emergency session” to determine what they are going to do.
Election 2016. In something related to the above take, did anybody notice that Alaska, Hawaii, and Washington State all went HARD for Bernie Sanders on Saturday. The West is changing – the Calfornication of the West is nearly complete. They’ve fundamentally changed Colorado and Washington, and you can see the change coming across the West and much of that is because of the dumb shit antics of the Republi-turds.
But the results from Saturday are proving something else – this isn’t just a Republican problem, it’s a Democrat one. They keep trotting out the same type candidates. They tried to cram Bush vs. Clinton against us once again and the people said enough. Is it any wonder why the people are looking at Trump and Sanders?
But with these two comes even worse non-sense…
Trump 2016 Chalk Messages. If there was any further proof that college dumbs down our youth and that we need more vocational training back in the High Schools, what happened at Emery University absolutely beyond a shadow of a doubt reinforces this.
You heard about the smart ass who wrote “Trump 2016” in chalk all over the campus, right? Well, apparently “students” are uncomfortable enough with the chalk writings that they are “in pain” or “traumatized” over this obvious “intimidation” which makes them feel unsafe.
In response, the college has now deemed that writing “Trump 2016” in chalk is now a “violation of policy”. Holy Shit, when did we become this pussified? When did colleges allow the inmates to run the asylum?
I don’t like Trump, I think he’s a blowhard, though along with Sanders are turning the parties on their ear. But this is nothing more than violating free speech.
The pussification of America is nearly complete and those who support this stuff, I ask you this – what happens when through no fault of your own you make the mistake of crossing the PC Police, then you’ll finally get it.
No wonder there is such a backlash against for profit schools. They might be expensive to the point that they should be investigated, but all they do is teach what you need to learn your job and become an effective leader. Schools who receive funding from the government are teaching PC and throwing out common sense apparently.
