This was the one season where outside of Sacramento I actually thought that the NBA was getting it, where they could rest on their game and show that was the main attraction. But alas, that couldn’t happen. Peep this:
- Lebron James. From his perceived role in the firing of the first coach, to his perceived interference with his current coach, to his unfollowing the Cavaliers on Twitter to his yapping about wanting to play with CP3, Carmelo, and Wade, this guy is making no friends and alienating his biggest ally – ESPN.
- Blake Griffin. This dude has just lost his mind. This paper tough guy is running around fighting civilians who work with the team, rubbing trainers faces in his crotch, and I’m sure there’s other stuff out there.
- Matt Barnes and Derek Fisher. Coach Fisher swooping in on Barnes ex-wife probably wasn’t a good idea.
- Sacramento. That would take an encyclopedia, so I won’t go there.
But the thing that took the cake was today – Los Angeles (go figure) Laker rookie D’Angelo Russell thought it was funny to video Nick “Swaggy P” Young talking about all “the strange” he was getting. Said video went public and suddenly the “snitches get stitches” comment comes out, and today it is reported that Russell was escorted out of practice facility by security.
Oh, and this coming from the same organization where a few years ago Kobe Bryant dropped the same knowledge publicly about Shaq, but nowhere near the amount of this criticism came Kobe’s way.
So I’m on social media and everybody is killing this kid, and rightfully so, but bear in mind he’s a kid whose gonna make stupid mistakes – and yes this was a biggie. But it seems to me that everybody seems to be supporting Swaggy P bragging about getting a bunch. Hey Swaggy, if you want to keep your dirt private, don’t tell anybody. Remember, today’s friend/camera is tomorrow’s headline…
Dear NBA, can we just get some basketball being played and leave the reality shit at the door? PLEASE???
