I always drive to work my office is just North of Boston. I was at a conference over the last three days. One I really wasn’t exited about other than being out of the office and getting some CEU’s. The last three days not wanting to leave my house before 6 to make it to the Sheraton Copley by 8:30am, I decided to take the train which is not as easy as I thought. The commuter train is fine but having to switch to the subway well depending if you took the green line which is a trolley or the Orange Line just abig electric train. I decided that the Orange Line was faster .
It is a different world on the commuter train everybody is engrossed in some type of electronic device. I was going to buy a newspaper just to upset the apple cart couldn’t find a box or a stand at the station. Nobody speaks or pays attention to the person next to them.
On the subway just alot of pushing and shoving no kindness or human decency. No politeness or interaction. Is this what we have turned into? there was a time people could smoke on the train after the last three days I just can’t image it.
There has been talk here in Boston of erecting a statute of David Ortiz outside Fenway. Lets stop and come to our senses yeah David had a good career here but lets not go crazy. I think an athlete shouldn’t geta statute until he is retired at last 25 years and has to have some sort of greatness like Ted Williams. I also think athletes shouldn’t writ books while they are still playing . I prefer them not write a book until they are dead or long retired or whatever comes first. Although , I do enjoy when football coaches write books. Bear and Bo for example both have had good books out after they were retired,
The Red Sox honored the 86 Red Sox last night against the Rockies. Clemens was there as well as Bill Buckner. Good to see them both. I still think Vin Scully had the best quote going into a commercial break in the 86 World Series it went some thing like this” Barrett, Boggs and Buckner are due up when we return to a Banjo of a ballpark in the backbay of Beantown” Scully put is eloquent voice to it and it kind of stuck.
So I’m still driving the Beetle which I have had enough of over the past week. We have a beater we bought for the kids . I have decided I’ll drive that until we get a check from the Insurance Company.
I really don’t have anything else this week just been crazy.
