I must remind myself, and the readers, that this is only, and I repeat only, an exhibition game thank goodness.
With that being said let’s get on with this blog.
The Jaguars came back from an 18 point deficit to beat the Cincinnati Bengals 26-21. So with the win why do I feel like this was one of the worst games ever played?
I was looking forward to this game as a barometer to the game we are going to play against Green Bay. If the Jaguars starters played well against the Bengals starters then it would be a sign as to how well we would play against the Packers. Logical thinking I thought. But I was wrong.
Sure I am happy the team won, but there was something missing. It seemed to me like someone forgot to let Jacksonville’s starters know that there was a game to be played.
The fans seemed to be into the game until the second quarter when the Bengals scored their second touchdown and then it got quite. It got exciting in the fourth quarter and the remaining fans still in the stands made some noise. Too bad, people like me, left too soon.
Was that some booing from the fans as the Jaguars left the field at halftime? Yep it was, and I did not even participate in the booing, I’ll save it for the regular season. LOL.
The first quarter felt like it lasted over an hour, and the 1st half felt like it lasted 2 ½ hours long.
For general information this was the first time the Jaguars have faced the Cincinnati Bengals in preseason.
Offense the good:
Keep ragging on Joeckel, but the offensive line did not give up a sack.
Chad Henne was sharp.
Offense the bad:
Touchdown nullified by a failure to report penalty by linebacker Hayes Pullard who come into the game on a third down play.
Defense the good:
Hayes Pullard redeemed himself with a 62 yard pick 6 in the 4th quarter with 7:48 left in the game.
The unit had 5 sacks.
Defense the bad:
Well at least it was not the regular season.
Five Star Players:
To those who stayed you deserve credit. A lot of people, including myself, should be ashamed of ourselves.
8-12, 107 yards one touchdown.
52 total yards and 1 touchdown.
75 yards, 1 touchdown
54 yards rushing and 1 touchdown.
Next game is against the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday.
