NEW HAMPSHIRE LOSES A RACE
This week it was announced that New Hampshire would lose the September race. They’ll still have the July race but the September race goes to Las Vegas in 2018.
The track general manager, David McGrath said that the July race will be better and bigger than ever. The track will seek to fill the race void with concerts and other events.
I guess this is another attempt at getting the west coast more into NASCAR. Of course it’s Vegas. They like to do it up big in Vegas.

SIRIUSXM NASCAR RADIO CHANNEL
For the last 15 years SiriusXM has broadcast the NASCAR channel and it will continue to do so. They have re-upped till 2022. So if you love your races on the radio and you love the talk shows and interviews then this is good news.
Ok, so Keselowski is not the driver I picked to win Atlanta. Harvick led a race high of 292 laps and was in the lead to win it but got a pit road speeding penalty on the last stop and Keselowski swooped in for the win. Very disappointing for me AND my fantasy teams.
It started out great with Harvick on the pole. He kept his car on that yellow line all race long. Smooth as glass. Nobody seemed to be able to drive down there. Dale Jr got into trouble early on pit road. Speeding penalties were spreading like wild fire all afternoon. Johnson and Kenseth would be caught too.
Harvick won the first 2 stages as he cruised around that yellow line. Austin Dillon and Ryan Newman were about to have top 10 finishes but battery issues took both out of contention in the last 40 laps or so. Very strange if you ask me. Since it wasn’t accident related they both were allowed to go to the garage for repairs and return to the race with no 5 minute clock ticking.
So with 16 laps to go a caution came out for Dillons car which was coasting around the apron without power. Harvick beat everyone out of the pits but was penalized for speeding. He was sent to the VERY back. This gave Kyle Larson the lead and he kept it till Keselowski blew by him with 7 to go. Harvick mean while had worked his way back up to 9th by the end of the race.
PENALTY REPORT – Allmendinger : Gets -35 points for missing lugnuts. His Crew chief gets a $65,000 fine and suspension for 3 races.
Top 15 Finishers – Keselowski – Larson – Kenseth – Kahne – Elliott – Logano – Ku Bu – Truex – Harvick – McMurray – Bowyer – Bayne – Stenhouse – Jones – Ty Dillon
LAS VEGAS PREVIEW
So look who has pole for today. It’s Keselowski. We have another 1.5 mile D shaped oval on our hands. The points standings are looking crazy. Johnson and Dale Jr are 32nd & 33rd!!! Yeah, you read that correct like. Ky Bu is 25th. Whaaaaaaaaat?!?! That’s crazy talk. This new points system is really shaking things up for sure. Harvick is #1 though. Stage wins and laps led have put him there. Ku Bu is 2nd with Keselowski in 3rd. Mr Johnson, Dale Jr and Ky Bu need to get their collective butts in gear or they’ll be killed by death. A little Motorhead humor there…..( =
KESELOWSKI – Pole sitter, last weeks winner, and last years winner. Need I say more? Top 10
LOGANO – Won the Xfinity race last night, and starts 6th today. Top 10
HARVICK – Did you get your free Bloomin Onion on Monday? If you didn’t I’m sure you’ll get another chance this Monday. Top 10
KAHNE – He’s an albatross like Hamlin but he is good at this track and he’s coming off of a 2 race top 10 streak. Top 10
KU BU – More of the same for the home town boy. Top 10
ELLIOTT – No win but he’s persistent in getting up there. Top 10
LARSON – Wrecked last year but I have higher hopes this year. Top 10
A DILLON – No battery issues this week Top 10
KENSETH – Wrecked last year but he starts 4th today and he’ll be there. Top 10
TRUEX – Fast enough but couldn’t quite beat Keselowski for the pole.
Things have not been going as per usual with this new stage format. It’s REALLY tough to call the top 10 at the end. I’m still not sold on all the changes and the trumped up drama NASCAR has been doing with inspection fails, the penalty system and everything. It’s all just a bit too much. I’m really struggling to love my sport. And that’s where I’m gonna end it. I hope everyone in the north east stays safe through Tuesday nights weather event. Bundle up and stock up.
And I’m outta here…=^!^=
