I’m in the mood for a melody. I’m in the mood. Yup, I’m stuck on Robert Plant now. He can make dance. He can make me sing.
Things are trying to warm up. Went to Home Depot this week for herbs, dirt and peat moss. Get that ground ready for veggies. The tomato plants arrive next month. My herb boxes need repairing too. Hoping for some especially nice days to get that stuff started. The folks in the neighborhood already started mowing this week. What they’re mowing, I’m not sure. The grass hasn’t grown yet.
As of this writing April the giraffe hasn’t had her baby yet. Funny that they don’t know when she’s due. The live cam looks like it’ll be on for a while.
So what of the land of Left Turns?
NASCAR DRIVERS TO BE ON AMERICAN NINJA WARRIORS
It’s no secret folks. NASCAR drivers are fit. They ride bike, run marathons, swim, lift weights, hike and all manner of physical activity geared toward fitness to keep themselves able to drive that car in extreme temps for long stretches.
So now we have 3 NASCAR drivers that want to compete on the show. Ben Kennedy will have his chance first. He’ll be on the Daytona taping with an air date of June 26th. Ryan Blaney and Ricky Stenhouse will be on the Cleveland taping with an air date of July 3rd.
Good luck guys.
NATURES BAKERY VS STEWART HAAS RACING
It’s a he said -she said deal. Natures Bakery and Stewart Haas Racing will be squaring off in court in front of a mediator over that lack of payments to come from Natures Bakery.
Stewart Haas Racing says—–> The defendant (Natures Bakery) repeatedly renegotiated the timing of payments and didn’t deliver.
After being bought by a private equity group they lost interest in the sponsorship. Immediately after the 2016 racing season was over they concocted fictitious reasons to try to justify the termination of the contract which still has 2 years and over $30 million owed on it.
Natures Bakery says—–> SHR & Danica Patrick were to be exclusively endorsing Natures Bakery products. Also they were to provide broad social media out reach to help promote the brand. SHR & Danica Patrick did not do this.
Danica Patrick was endorsing confusingly similar brands and products.
They seek breach of contract and no further payments to SHR
MY OPINION—-> Natures Bakery signed a contract. Pay up. I follow Danica on Twitter. She makes it pretty clear that she endorses a healthy life style. Clean eating and exercise. She puts recipes for healthy foods on her account AND I have seen many times she posts pictures of the Natures Bakery products. AND she had Natures Bakery all over her car at most tracks last year. Nothing like a roll billboard with TV time to advertise your product. That’s what they signed up for and that’s what they got.
TONY STEWART BOBBLEHEAD DOLL HEADING FOR THE MUSEUM
Texas Motor Speedway gave out Tony Stewart bobblehead dolls at the November AAA Texas 500 NASCAR race in 2016. Now they will deliver one to the Bobblehead Hall of Fame in Milwaukee, Wis.
They have the worlds largest collection at over 5000. Tony’s doll will be with others like Willie Mays and Babe Ruth.
Danica Patrick has a doll being handed out at the race this Sunday. Kevin Harvick will have his doll handed out at the November Texas race and Graham Rahal (Husband of Brittany Force and a IndyCar driver) will also have a promotional doll handed out this year as well. All will end up at the museum.
I guess that’s how you know you really made it is when you have a bobblehead doll in your likeness.
For more details go to www.bobbleheadhall.com
I didn’t watch the race this past week due to family but some time I might get to watch the rerun on NASCAR’s You Tube channel. I love You Tube.
Judging from all the cautions, it was the beatin’ and bangin’ affair I thought it would be. Larson was your pole sitter and he led 23 laps race total. Blaney and Dale Jr got into again. They can’t seem to get away from each other. Dale Jr says they’ll get together and talk things through. I thought Blaney saying “the 88 is a dickhead” in another race was funny.
Ku Bu got wrecked out of another race. He’s now 19th in points. Now he has a win but hanging out that far down in points is dangerous. With this new format in place you just can’t afford to be out of the top 16 in points for too long.
Ky Bu led the race high in laps at 274 but didn’t win. Keselowski led 116 laps and got the win.
Truex won the first stage and Elliott won the second stage. Points for these stage wins is a big deal.
Top 15 Finishers – Keselowski – Ky Bu – Elliott – Logano – A Dillon – Allmendinger – Bowyer – Newman – Kenseth – Stenhouse – Buescher – Jones – Bayne – Kahne – Johnson
NO LIMITS TEXAS PREVIEW
We’ve got a nail biter on our hands. A mile and a half track that’s gone through a repave. If practice and qualifying are any indicators of what’s to come then nail biter is it. Larson, Elliott, Ky Bu, Kahne, Jones, Dale Jr, Buescher, Hill and Cope all have no qualifying times due to wrecks in practice and not passing tech inspection. Bayne goes to the back because he’s in a back up car. Johnson will also join them in the back because he had to change tires after qualfying. Rule states you must start the race on the tires you qualify on.
Ford has swept the top 5 spots on the starting grid with Harvick leading the way followed by Blaney, Bowyer, Logano and Keselowski. This could get crazy. Texas is fast and NASCAR shaved off some of that rear spoiler if you remember. Couple that with the repave AND it’s a day race instead of the usual night race and you just don’t know what’s coming. But I will try to knock out a top 10 any way.
HARVICK – Pole sitter. Hasn’t been getting those top 10 Bloomin’ Onions lately but I’m thinking this is going to change. He ran the Xfinity race Saturday and came in 3rd. Seat time is good time for drivers. Top 10 and I’m picking him for the win today.
TRUEX – I’m picking him to lead the most laps AND a Top 10
LOGANO – He has a habit of getting top 5’s here. I see no reason to doubt any more. Top 10
KY BU – Starts from the 30’s. Great place differential if you play him in NASCAR LIVE fantasy. Top 10
ELLIOTT – Wonder boy is starting back there too. Also a great place differential. Top 10
LARSON – Hard to leave this darling out of the mix. I just don’t think he’ll over come that 32nd place start. This isn’t a good track for him. Top 15 for him.
DALE JR – WHERE HAS HE BEEN!?!? He’s back there 25th in points that’s where he is. He’s also starting 37th. Great place differential if you’re playing fantasy. Not taking him though.
JOHNSON – He’s MIA too. Not picking him either.
BOWYER – Seems to have gotten a feel for his new ride in the #14. Top 10
JONES – Truex’s team mate. Despite pit road hick ups and other rookie mistakes, he’s 13th in the points. A little pricey in fantasy but I’ll give him a Top 10
MCMURRAY – Qualified 6th. Been knockin’ on lots of great finishes. He’s 9th in the points. Top 10
KESELOWSKI – He’s on a roll. He’ll be on time for the race too. After all he won the grandfather clock at Martinsville last week. Top 10
HAMLIN – The albatross of NASCAR. Call your local psychic. I just can’t commit.
NEWMAN – Seems to have gotten a new wind under his sales lately. Top 10
Just found an Iggy Pop concert. Live Austin City Limits on You Tube. It’s fabulous. So I’ll be watching it before I run off to the shower. You all have a great Sunday.
And I’m outta here =^!^=
