Quiet July weekend, isn’t it? Well, let’s enjoy these nice weekends because very soon, sports will get the juices flowing again. For me, it’s a trip down to the Bay Area to bowl, but tomorrow is the day to watch the British Open. There’s just something about watching the best players in the world challenged on those links with the weather against them in a major.
All of a sudden we have a couple of races in MLB, both in the Central divisions. The Cubs got hot and cut Milwaukee’s lead down to one game – not terribly surprising, though Pittsburgh has now won six in a row and is just two games back! What is much more surprising is the AL Central where Cleveland only has a 1.5 game lead over Minnesota and Kansas City. I’m actually looking quite forward to these. A good old-fashioned race for the division would not suck.
Adam “Pacman” Jones got suspended for game one of the upcoming season for misdemeanor charges stemming from an altercation back in January. Somebody said he’s been suspended for 24 games over his 11 year career. At what point does this guy just go away?
Was just thinking: Miami QB Ryan Tannehill has no more excuses, well maybe one if the O-Line isn’t fixed. This is his year to show what he can do – if he can’t perform to a high level this year, then it’s time for Miami to find a new one, or at least bring in SERIOUS competition in 2018.
NFL.com was talking about Anquan Boldin was going to meet w/Buffalo this coming week. That’s cool – whose gonna throw him the ball?
Can somebody please explain in layman terms what is going on at Ole Miss? The Head Coach is out, there’s a lawsuit, and somebody was dialing up escorts, I think.
By the way, what’s with Notre Dame QB’s transferring to schools down in Florida?
The Cleveland Cavaliers got a bomb dropped on them with Kyrie Irving stating he wants a trade. Meanwhile NBA fans everywhere are trying to find a way their team will trade for him. But what was really surprising was his “wish list” of teams. I get San Antonio and Miami, but why would you want to go to New York? Let’s evaluate this for a minute – years away, high tax state, pushy media, and god awful ownership. Forget that train wreck known as the Rotten Apple – the most intriguing name on his list was Minnesota. Now I personally don’t believe it’s realistic because Minny would have to give up too much for him, but what if they didn’t? What if Cleveland let him go for way less – ala Indy did with Paul George? Minny would be an absolute monster in 2018/19 after they got their year of gelling together in 2017/18.
I watched the Tour de France and it was incredible. After three weeks of riding 2000 miles, five mountain chains and two time-trials, the winner was finally decided, but it came down to one second difference between the third and fourth place riders. That’s simply amazing. And once again Chris Froome looks to be the winner going down the Champs Elysee tomorrow.
Just a thought: This Battle of the Network Stars isn’t anywhere near like the old ones of the 70’s, but hey, it’s still kinda cool.
Politics: Hey President Trump, you wanna get your message out better supposedly, right? Hire Gronk!
