Welcome to Wednesday, where yesterday I welcomed home my son from a trip visiting friends in Kansas City. Lots of BBQ, lots of grog, and lots of good times for him. Now he finishes his vacation and heads back to get ready to start their season.
Lucky Whitehead is an unbelievable story, but then again considering how our court system has gone is it really all that surprising?
Here’s my question – all these people out there ready to pounce on the police for the slightest mistake, right? What do we hear? That’s right – crickets. All these people out there ready to pounce on the slightest whiff of something not being right or fair, right? What do we hear regarding the Dallas Cowboys? Yep, crickets.
Oh, and as far as these losers the Dallas Cowboys are concerned, you had no problem immediately cutting a guy who wasn’t guilty of anything – simply because you were looking for an excuse or so you say. You used this to drop the hammer.
Now in the end, I hope that this young man can get a job somewhere and quite frankly, I hope he drops the hammer on the city and cops who hurt his rep. Not only that, I hope Whitehead goes to a team and that he has a pivotal role in beating the Cowboys.
I just heard that Michael Vick has been brought in as part of a team of coaching interns in Kansas City. There seems to be some blowback about this. Why? What he did that put him in prison was reprehensible. What he said about Kaepernick was stupid. But, he deserves just as much of a shot to be a coach as anybody else. Not only that, he might have a unique perspective on a team that is desperate for a more dynamic offense. Finally, like Bomani Jones said this morning, is this also a “cautionary tale” to some of the younger talent who might be tempted to go out and act the fool.
I also saw an interesting thing where the LA Chargers gave Robert Griffin III a tryout. This should be this guy’s last chance – I hope he can catch on, stay healthy, and do well. He actually deserves a chance.
Over in MLB, there are some streaks going on that you might want to pay attention to: Cleveland has won five in a row, Kansas City seven in a row.
Meanwhile on the trade front, Boston acquired 3B Eduardo Nunez from San Francisco for two minor league pitchers. Boston, I believe you’re getting a good one who is going to help you, but you keep taking the Giants 3B. I remember how excited I was when SF got Nunez from Minny and how I believed he was going to be a long-time contributor and solution in the infield. He has been hot at the plate since June 1st. As for San Francisco – why trade him? Oh, that’s right, you’re gonna put Pablo Sandoval back at 3B. Where is Brian Sabean? Can the Giants bring him back to GM?
Is this “ACC is better than SEC talk” when it comes to College Football real? Well, yes. I’ve warned for years that the ACC is a bit deeper than the SEC. Just look at it: Clemson, Florida State, North Carolina, Louisville just to start. As for who can surprise you if you aren’t paying attention: NC State, Virginia Tech, Miami, and Pittsburgh. I truly believe that the SEC doesn’t have the depth that the ACC does. But the reality is this: The ACC and SEC should have the football showdown similar to basketball.
Enjoy your Wednesday and keep smiling – it pisses people off or makes them wonder what you’re up to.
