Let’s bring in August right with a few rants:
I read where the Chicago Cubs gave a World Series ring to Steve Bartman. Yeah, that was the right thing to do. Now that the Cubs have won, you “fans” back there need to bury the hatchet with the Bartman. The treatment of this man is a perfect example of what I mean about how out of control and basically shitty fans have gotten. Look you a-holes, nobody feels worse about what happened in 2003 than the Bartman, but 14 years later and this cat has to remain underground? God, this is why I absolutely despise fans in sports.
While I’m busting a verbal cap on fans, how stupid do you have to be to roll up into a Philadelphia Eagles training camp practice while wearing a Dez Bryant jersey? This is yet another a-hole “fan” looking for attention. He got it, and in my mind he is my douche bag of the day. No, he’s not a douche bag, he’s an attention whore. A reality show wannabe whose lucky he got out of there with his life.
But worse than that douche bag was the Eagles “policy” telling the fan to take said jersey off or leave? If you have to have a “policy” about this – then that tells me you are worried about your fans (you should be – Philly fans ain’t no joke) and don’t have enough security. But hey, it’s Philly. Bill Burr was right about Philly – and I’m surprised he left alive the night of that epic rant.
Speaking of stupid: I read a report about the Dallas Cowpatties as an organization facing NFL fines for the second year in a row due to their sheer number of suspended players. Good, and I hope that subject is brought up as King Jerrah takes his place in Canton, but of course it won’t because of the cowards in the media who refuse to take this clown to task.
Holy Crap Austin Jackson, bravo to you for the absolute catch of the year. Props also go out to the Boston fans who gave dude a standing “O”.
It’s time to light up the NCAA again. UCF ruled their kicker ineligible due to his advertising on his YouTube Channel. You read that right, a football player at a non-power five school was told he couldn’t profit off of his YouTube channel by showing himself as a student-athlete – so the kid told the school to pack sand and he is giving up his scholarship because nobody was going to tell him what content he could post on his YouTube account. Props to the kid for standing up for his principles.
He was being a goofy kid posting innocent videos and was trying to get to 10,000 likes so he could make money off of it – apparently an NCAA no-no. This is why I absolutely HATE the NCAA, stupid shit like this. In the name of “remaining amateur” (a joke unto itself considering the cash the NCAA – a business – makes), they’re gonna censor a kid having fun and making a few bucks on the side, which it is said that he was sending home to help his family?
But by all means, let’s allow the big time schools who have players who get into trouble to allow them to play or take forever on investigations into power five programs.
This is why I am of the firm belief that schools should drop the NCAA and make their own governing authority. It may be a lot of work, but why should the NCAA (and the colleges, which are a money making machine themselves) make all that cash on your backs?
