Greetings Gabbers Happy Summer
Last Sunday, Laser and I set of for a 4 day adventure as he approaches his senior year. It was time for the college tour. Wg City. I just remember him wearing a Red Sox shirt and we were trying to get back to our hotel in midtown. I remember asking a New York Transit Cop which train we should take. (Close your eyes and picture the heavy New York accent) What are uses guys crazy your going to get killed so take this train to that one and don’t get off to the end.
Back to Laser and I I shitting brinks thinking about parking near Yankee stadium we got there early enough got a great lot close and well patrolled. We walked up to the ticket window I have a Northeastern Huskies hat on the guy at the window says hey my daughter goes there. I say mine does too and I went there. The guy says I got two$99 seats I say, I don’t now if I want to spend that much. I finally buckle give the guy my card he hands me back the receipt he says I gave you a discount charged us $57 each for the $99 dollar seats.
The stadium was pretty nice although I liked the old stadium a little better. There were 15 walks in the game. Lance Brinkman was calling the balls and strikes. Lance is ranked #3 averaging 6.8 walks per game. Did get to see Aaron Judge if the Yankees don’t work out for him maybe the Jets could use him then again who couldn’t the Jets use. After the game it was off to Long Island everything was still in the car it was still there.
The ride out to the Island was long we arrived at our Hotel next to the fictional Nassau County Coliseum. It fictional because in my mind it was just the place the Islanders use to play at. At this point I discover my E-Z pass transponder is not working as the gate on the Thrungs Neck Bridge . I have traffic backed up for miles as the cop comes over picture heavy accent. he slams the thing tells me it isn’t my fault the thing is dead.
Monday first stop Hofstra University the laser liked it and liked the people after the tour we headed to the Big Apple by train. laser has been around it has flown over it but never in it. We get off first stop some NY Pizza it was awesome we walked out of the Pizza shop and MSG was right there we walked around saw the Empire State Building, Central park and Times square and my ATM card pooped the bed. either the chip or the stripe died.At least the account wasn’t hacked.. We left around 8 next stop Bridgeport CT.
The campus of Sacred Heart university if you ever pictured a New England College Campus Sacred was gorgeous we walk in the gym and they are having a volleyball camp our tour guide explains they are having some kids camps. We look to our left there are bunch of coaches and trainers talking to a guy in a chair. The tour guide says thats our A.D> Bobby V. A quick hello to Bobby Vallentine and we were off Laser liked he campus.
Next stop Springfield Mass. Springfield College Laser as not impressed . From Springfield we stopped at the Mass RMV to try to get a new transponder. the guy says they are a separate unit you have to get it from E-Z Pass in Ludlow which was the wrong way. They and half hour ride to Syracuse. The laser loved it moved right up o his list. He was able to meet with folks there.
Cool thing at the Carrier Dome outside it has cement columns about 2 feet apart lined each person up and made them jump on concrete which made the roof vibrate
we were outside. We drove another hour out to Ithaca Beautiful country with Ithaca on one hill and Cornell on the next. Laser thought Ithaca was ok. 6 hour ride home 60 miles on farm roads to the highway. Best part of the trip quality time with my son.
